    Process Owner Lead - Accounting Control - JHB

    Key Accountabilities

    Accountability: Stakeholder management 

    • Design, manage and solve issues in the AFS Group PCG team.
    • Manage the Regulatory Production in Accounting Control.  Design and implement efficiencies.
    • Manage the Reconciliations production in Accounting Control focusing on control environment and process efficiency and automation
    • Support Head of Accounting Control for all necessary requirements.
    • Manage all key relationships in support of internal and external group audits, provide feedback on any queries raised.
    • Support Financial Controllers and other areas of FC in managing and resolving issues in relevant Accounting Control processes.

    Accountability: Process and operating model design 

    • Act as the process lead for Group financial accounting and reporting, including AFS PCG, Reconciliation and Regulatory reporting.
    • Manage effective delivery of outputs to ensure high quality and efficient process,.
    • Work with process owners to unpack and redesign processes to obtain optimal efficiency in Accounting Control and Financial Control.
    • Oversee execution and review of AC processes
    • Resolve issues and attend meetings related to process
    • Represent accounting control on operations committee for projects related to process
    • Support head of Accounting Control with strategic view for the function

    Accountability: Functional leadership and development 

    • Lead a team of financial specialists to achieve excellent operational results through continuous people development and mentoring activities.
    • With the support from the HR Business Partner, interview and recruit direct reports. Second interview sub-subordinates where necessary.
    • Approve leave requests for direct reports and ensure that the team manage the leave effectively.
    • Motivate employees in the department and ensure that their efforts are recognised.
    • Manage resource requirements and motivate additional requirements where needed.
    • Manage training requirements of team members.

    Role/Person Specification

    Knowledge and Skills

    • IFRS, accounting and reporting 
    • Coaching 
    • SAP or similar ERP system 
    • Problem solving 
    • Interpersonal skills 
    • Management and leadership 

    Education and Experience

    • Honours/Masters-degree in (Accounting) (NQF level 7); 
    • CA SA/CIMA;
    • Experience managing large processes and process improvement 
    • Control environment monitoring experience
    • Previous people management experience;
    • Minimum of 7 years’ experience management of a large team.
