    Principal Public Policy Manager, Economic Policy & Regulation

    Key job responsibilities
    As the Principal Public Policy Manager, Economic Policy & Regulation, you will be responsible for developing advocacy initiatives that promote innovation, entrepreneurship and economic development. You will drive complex projects in a fast-paced environment, communicating clear and effective thought leadership to governments, regulators, academia, thank tanks and industry groups, including in situations of high ambiguity.

    The successful candidate will build relationships and partnerships at all levels of government, represent AWS in relevant industry associations, and manage our response to consultations, especially within regulated industries. You will also monitor and report on relevant legislative activity, develop engagement strategies, draft collateral, and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs and key initiatives in alignment with business objectives.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • 10+ years of relevant public policy and advocacy experience
    • Knowledge of digital issues as they apply to regulated industries and economic policy
    • Fluent written and spoken English.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality and integrity
    • Highly effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Expert understanding of the legislative and regulatory decision-making process.
    • Experience in one or more regulated industries
    • Ability to identify and understand technical aspects pertaining to corporate operations in legislative and regulatory proposals, understand business implications, and synthesize policy documents for internal and external customers.
    • Ability to create factual and persuasive talking points and policy content, and deliver it to relevant audiences.
    • Self-starter with proven track record of successfully working with a wide array of functional groups across an organization and cultures, as well as working independently.
    • Ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others. Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills, and political acumen.
    • An advanced degree, preferably in a relevant discipline (Law, Political Science, Public Policy, etc.)
