Manager Engineering Projects - Richards Bay at South32

ABOUT THE ROLE:

• This role is a permanent full-time position.
• As a Manager Engineering Projects, you will be responsible to provide leadership, expertise and direction that ensures that the Engineering Functions (Capital Projects Management, Equipment Studies,  Asset Management, Reliabilty and Safety Management) effectively delivers required technical support to the Operation.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Act as a single point of contact between the Operation and Engineering functions.
• Work with the Operations leadership team and the Engineering Team and other sub-functions to establish, prioritise and execute the Modification & Small Project portfolio in line with the South32 Investment Standard and Asset Management Standard, associated Operational plans, specifications and standards.
• Ensure the Engineering functions outputs contribute towards achievement of Operational targets and budgets for Safety, Volume and Cost.
• Identify and design material risk critical controls for the Engineering Function and associated engineering standards and verify that they are deployed and effective.
• Provide input into long-term planning (Life of Asset, Medium Term Planning,  5 year plan, 2 year budget and short range forecast).
• Establish plans, capex  and operational  budgets and performance targets for the Engineering sub-functions in line with Operational requirements and standards and ensure delivery against them. Promote operational discipline and high performance in work execution and enhance the technical knowledge of team members.

ABOUT YOU:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Must have a minimum of of 10 years’ relevant experience of which at least 5 years have been in a managerial position preferably in the project management environment;
• Applicants are required to have  detailed knowledge of theories and practices related to engineering of operational equipment and sound knowledge of other functions;
• Make a strategic contribution by using the team and the advice of functional staff to envision all possible practices and systems that might be used for delivery. Select those practices that are within budget and appropriate for local conditions;
• Experience in decision-making that directly impact an Operational Areas.

Qualifications for this role are:

• BSc or B-Tech Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Industrial);
• Management Leadership Diploma, ECSA Pr Eng., ECSA Pr Tech or PMP Certification, knowledge of SAP, CUBE will be advantageous.
