    Maintenance Engineering Manager

    RCL Foods entrusts the Maintenance Engineering Manager to 

    • Define and implement an asset care strategy for Sunbake.
    • Audit and continuously improve the asset care principles used to optimise manufacturing capacity, improve the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of the bakeries and to optimise engineering and maintenance resources to improve business profitability.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Plant baking qualification
    • Qualified artisan
    • Production and/or engineering qualification
    • Management Qualification
    • Five years experience in a similar role
    • Significant maintenance experience in bread, rolls and buns manufacturing
    • Highly proficient in bakery technology
    • Direct application of planned preventative maintenance processes
    • Training, assessing and moderating

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Asset Care Strategy

    • To undertake a review of legislation, standards/guidelines, methodologies and best practice in the formulation of an asset care strategy for all bakeries within Sunbake.

    Asset Care Policy

    • To define an Asset Care Policy comprising of a purpose, objectives, scope, methodology, systems and automation, asset tree breakdown, metrics (with targets), tactics, reports and review mechanisms.

    Asset Care Methodology

    • To define and implement an asset care methodology for all bakeries. To select and implement a planned preventative maintenance system for the bakeries

    Asset Performance

    • To optimise bakery plant Availability and Performance in accordance with the definitions of the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metric by maintaining a continuous improvement program by bakery.

    Asset Disposal

    • Manage asset disposal in accordance with policies and accounting standards and maintain the integrity of the maintenance and asset records when a disposal takes place.

    Technology Landscape, Supplier Management and Equipment Selection

    • To maintain a repository of all key equipment suppliers across all bakery technology sets.
    • To keep abreast of leading bakery technology and provide input on manufacturing strategy and equipment selection.
    • To maintain a professional relationship with all suppliers and uphold supplier management principles.

    Maintenance Projects

    • Ensure maintenance expenditure is focused on reducing plant down- time and improving efficiencies of bakery equipment.
    • Ensure that health and safety requirements are adhered to with regards to specifying new equipment.
    • Manage process change control documentation with regards to all equipment and plant changes with records for audit purposes.
    • Ensure that all project work is carefully planned so as to maximise the potential to meet the relevant specification, performance criteria, quality standard and food safety requirement.
    • Manage outside contractors to ensure the integrity of the engineering work and carry out corrective action if and when required.

    Auditing and Training

    • Develop and implement a bakery maintenance auditing process.
    • Conduct monthly audits and work with bakery management to improve maintenance processes and practices.

    Bakery Visitation

    • Visit all bakeries for at least two days per month during which audits, training and mentoring must take place.
    • Personally lead major maintenance project work by being at the bakery concerned.
    • Personally lead all equipment commissioning and hand-over processes at the bakery concerned.

    Food Safety and Quality Management System

    • All engineering maintenance work must be carried out in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices as this will form part of the foundation element of the Food Safety and Quality Management System.

    Maintenance support to other functions

    • Support the manufacturing team to assess capability of installed equipment to achieve capacity or the required manufacturing standards for the respective equipment.

    Financial Management

    • Budgeting and cost control of maintenance projects.

    Contract Management

    • A series of key contracts will be managed through the proper use of written and approved contracts with service level agreements for fixed periods.
