PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

A lecturer is expected to make contribution to the teaching effort of the institution, and to carry out activities to maintain and develop his/her professional activities relevant to the profession of discipline.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching and Learning:

• The conduct of tutorials, practical classes, online learning, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions and studio sessions.
• Initiation and development of subject material.

Development and supervision:

• The preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars.
• Supervision of the program of study of honours students or of postgraduate students, engage in course work.

Research:

•  Supervision of major honours or postgraduate research projects.
• The conduct of research.
• Involvement in professional activity.

Development of course materials:

• Development of course material with appropriate advice from and support of more senior employees.
• Marking and assessments.
• Consultation with students.

Minimum requirements

Lecturer:

•   A Master’s degree (NQF level 9) in Risk Management.
• A minimum of 3 years’ teaching experience at a tertiary institution.
• Postgraduate supervision experience required.

  Senior Lecturer:

• A PhD (NQF level 10) in Risk Management.
• A minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience at a tertiary institution.
• Postgraduate supervision experience required.
•  A proven research track record.
