    Lead Project Manager

    Job Description

    • This role is responsible for managing one or more Financial Education projects within the constraints of scope, quality, time and cost, within the OMSA project governance framework. Scope, complexity, accountability and control, as well as size of budget is smaller than that of a Senior Project Manager. The incumbent in this role is accountable for achieving results through the efforts of others. This individual is responsible for effective implementation of the Financial Education projects which supports Old Mutual Limited, Old Mutual Insure, Old Mutual Investment Group, Distribution support, Market management and several business units.

    Details include:

    • Delivers the required On the Money Financial Education programme(s)and or activities for each project, phase or stage
    • Support Old Mutual limited financial education related projects.
    • Working closely with the Group Communications, Group Digital, Group Human Capital, Group Social Media, and Group Brand and sponsorship Properties and marketing and events teams to deliver integrated financial education strategic projects.
    • Ensures that quality is achieved as planned
    • Delivers to time and cost within agreed tolerance
    • Manages the people, work and resources involved
    • Establishes and updates plans with actuals and forecasts
    • Manages deviations from plans
    • Reports to respective stakeholders
    • Escalates decisions and unresolved issues
    • Concludes work on completion or premature cessation
    • Is responsible for Stakeholder Management at Business Management level
    • Has reporting line to Management Board
    • Typically handles more complex projects and bigger budgets than the Project Manager role

    Budget Control

    • Applies financial management disciplines to all work, bearing in mind that ROI is an important aspect of management role. 

    IT Service Delivery

    • Management Is responsible for managing one or more projects within the constraints of scope, quality, time and cost.
    • Plans and manages the deployment of resources to meet project milestones. Manages the people, processes and technology required to deliver solutions effectively according to the project requirements.
    • Ensures delivery of the required product(s) for each project, phase or stage. Ensures delivery within agreed time and cost tolerances. 

    Quality Management

    • Ensures that quality is achieved as planned.
    • Applies quality management principles and processes.
    • Ensures all work is undertaken within the organisation standards and processes.
    • Delivers to specified requirements and meets customer expectations. 

    Reporting

    • Establishes and updates plans with actuals and forecasts. Reports to respective stakeholders. 

    Risk Management

    • Manages deviations from plan.
    • Escalates decisions and unresolved issues.
    • Concludes the work upon completion or premature cessation. 

    Stakeholder Management

    • Builds and sustains effective communication with other roles involved in the project as required.
    • Monitors and manage multiple client expectations.
    • Identifies quick win opportunities as well as strategic initiatives where IT can assist the business in improving their management of the program portfolio to which you are assigned. 

    Team Effectiveness

    • Plans work load vs. work demand for project team members.
    • Individually accountable for customer/client service delivery through efforts of others, for periods of up to 3 months.
    • Accountable for others' time, task and output quality, for periods of up to 3 months.
    • Balances own priorities with directing and motivating others.
    • Plans and assigns work over the applicable period.
    • Guides and directs staff to achieve operational excellence standards.
    • Creates a climate for optimal performance.
    • Manages performance.
    • Selects potential staff to sustain customer/client service delivery.
