    Laboratory Supervisor Quality Control (Protea) - Wadeville

    Overview    

    • Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing quality control, maintaining accountability, and upholding established protocols and procedures.

    Qualifications    

    • Analytical Chemistry Diploma (Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, is advantageous)

    Experience    

    • 5 - 10 years of experience in a quality control laboratory or a similar role in the chemical manufacturing industry
    • Leadership Experience: More than 5 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership position in a laboratory environment

    Duties    
    Supervision and Operations Coordination

    • Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Quality Assurance Lab, including work scheduling, task allocation, and speeding up office workflow to ensure high-priority tasks are completed

    Compliance Management:

    • Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards, regulations, and procedures, including overseeing SABS audits, customer audits, managing lab documentation, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and quality standards.

    Quality Control Programs and Leadership:

     

    • Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of quality control programs, including testing methodologies, sampling plans, and quality assurance documentation. Provide guidance and expertise to ensure consistent quality standards in product testing and analysis.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as production, sales, and regulatory affairs, to establish quality requirements for new products and processes.

    Testing Method Development and Result Analysis:

    • Develop and validate analytical testing methods for product quality assessment. Review and interpret test results, identify trends, and initiate corrective actions when necessary

    Investigations and Corrective Actions:

    • Conduct investigations into non-conformities and customer complaints, providing root cause analysis and implementing corrective/preventive actions.

    Training and Mentoring:

    • Train and mentor laboratory technicians on laboratory techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols.

    Supplier Engagement:

    • Manage communication and relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of necessary consumables and maintain the integrity of the supply chain.

    Inventory Management:

    • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment, ensuring their availability and proper functioning.

    Continuous Improvement:

    • Stay updated with industry advancements and regulatory changes, recommend improvements to laboratory processes and equipment, identify shortcomings, and address them through established change management programs.

    Risk Mitigation:

    • Mitigate potential risks and challenges associated with maintaining consistent quality standards and operational integrity.

    Technical Customer Assistance:

    • Provide prompt and accurate technical support to customers, ensuring their needs and expectations are met
