Laboratory Administrator at RCL Foods

We at RCL FOODS are in search for a Laboratory Supervisor to join our Baking Division. The role will be based at the Pretoria West Milland will report to the QC Lab Supervisor. RCL FOODS is looking for incumbent to perform administrative activities within the Technical department. Daily technical correspondence with customer interface regarding certificates of analysis. Coordination of samples for external and internal testing. Monitoring and action quarantined product system. Stock control and expense management in the laboratory

Minimum Requirements

Matric / preferably diploma in laboratory management or food technology.

Computer literacy courses.

Duties & Responsibilities

Secretarial and Administrative

• To accurately construct daily COA’s for customers. Further report on discrepancies with regards to consistency between results to customers.
• Organising and setting up meetings for the technical department.
• To accurately record and minute all departmental meetings.
• Manage the sending and receiving of all samples.
• Managing and filing of R&D projects and documentation.
• Typing and distribution of interdepartmental memos, e-mails and other correspondence.
• Coordinating product testing schedules for external analysis.
• Filing and keeping QC documents up to date.
• Managing the time and attendance records for the laboratory.
• Creating leave for staff on the system.
• Organise and plan external travel arrangements for the Technical Department.
• Monitor QC sampling and quarantine systems. Further quarantine stock when needed as well as release from quarantine.
• Assist with administrative tasks in the R&D and QC Laboratory when needed.
• Ensure effective stock control of all raw materials, chemicals and consumables needed by the QC and QC Baking Laboratory.

Customer Relations

Understand and help with customer queries and requests. This requires understanding of testing and results.

• Liaise daily with customers regarding quality results and specifications.

Safety and Food Safety

• Assist with implementation of required food safety standards in the laboratory.
• Conduct internal food safety systems audits.
• Assist when needed with physical food safety related work. This will include but is not limited to:
• placing stock on hold;
• releasing stock from hold;
• taking samples for complaints investigation or requested analysis, this includes ingredients, packaging and final products;
• incident investigation.

Quality Control

• Assist with basic testing in the laboratory when needed. This will include but is not limited to:
• Colour analysis
• Sieving
• Handling retention samples
• Analysis on the Diode Array

pH

• Analysis on the NIR
• Budget and financial
• Track the expense budget monthly.
• Do workflows and place orders and GRN’s on Syspro or relevant system
