    Junior Lecturer / Lecturer P001399

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

    A Junior Lecturer / Lecturer is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the institution and carry out activities to maintain and develop his/her professional activities in the profession or discipline. An academic at this level is also expected to play a major role in scholarship, research, and/or professional activities.

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Teaching and Learning:

    • The conduct of tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions, and studio sessions.
    • Initiation and development of subject material.
    • Marking and assessment.
    • Consultation with students.

    Research and Innovation:

    • Conduct research.
    • Involved in professional activity.

    Academic Leadership:

    • Involved in school and faculty committees.
    • Contribute to advising students and recruitment activities.

    Social Responsiveness:

    • Involved in community engagement and sharing of expertise.

    Minimum requirements

    Junior Lecturer:

    •  An honour’s degree (NQF level 8) in Safety Management.
    •  A minimum of 1 year’ experience in the presentation of the relevant subjects in an undergraduate teaching programme.
    •  Show evidence of independence and initiative in research, applied, or creative works.

    Lecturer:

    •  A master’s degree (NQF level 9) in Safety Management.
    •  A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the presentation of the relevant subjects in an undergraduate teaching programme.
    •  Show evidence of independence and initiative in research, applied, or creative works.
