Internal Auditor: Digital at Nedbank

Job Responsibilities:

• Obtain a good understanding of the control environment being audited (including IT, internal financial controls and risk management related aspects) and the interdependencies linked to it.
• Plan audit assignments based on key process and business risks identified and design the audit program in line with risks and key controls to be tested.
• Incorporate data analytics (DA) to enhance audit planning and create efficiencies in audit fieldwork.
• Execute audit fieldwork in compliance with quality standards by following and completing prepared work programmes. Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of governance, risk management practices and internal controls.
• Provide clear and sufficient audit evidence to support recommendations and audit opinion.
• Identify opportunities to improve internal controls including internal financial controls.
• Identify and clearly articulate the root cause of issues identified and impact thereof and recommend changes to business processes that will address the control weaknesses
• Prepare a quality and balanced audit report to specified standards, encapsulating the control weaknesses identified and results of audit work performed with minimal editorial changes.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level:

• Qualified CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CA (Chartered Accountant) or CISA - Articles (preference to Big 4 candidates) and professional certifications will be advantageous
• Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) Degree (Internal Auditing, Accounting, Commercial, Economics or Statistics): Honours 
• Advanced Diplomas: Business Commercial and Management

Minimum Experience Level:

• 5 years relevant business and or audit experience within Financial Services
• Basic knowledge of regulatory requirements pertinent to banking
• Strong documentation and report writing skills
• Exposure to General Technology and use of Computer Assisted Audit Techniques which includes data analytics
• Stakeholder Management and Committee reporting

Technical / Professional Knowledge:

• Governance, Risk and Controls
• Data driven analytics (ability to read, write and interpret scripts)
• Practical experience of development and execution of analytics programs to assess risk and related control environment as part of an internal or external audit role or risk management
• Good database knowledge and understanding
• Developing of visualisation dashboards
• Communication and business writing skills
• General project management
