FRM Head - Invest - Sandton, Johannesburg at FirstRand Group

Purpose

• To develop appropriate strategies, capabilities, and solutions to enable FirstRand Integrated Finance Resource Management

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum Qualification -  CA (SA) or equivalent / B Sc Actuarial
• CFA charter holder would be advantageous
• Experience -  5 – 8 years working with investment products or in a multi/asset manager

Responsibilities

• Develop appropriate strategies, capabilities, and solutions to enable FirstRand Integrated Finance Resource Management
• Perform explicit financial resource optimisation through pricing techniques, advise on product constructs & the limitation of loss-making initiatives
• Develop appropriate strategies, capabilities, and solutions to enable FirstRand integrated Financial
• Resource Management, customer participation and risk optimisation
• Collaborate across Segment, Franchise and Group Treasury in creating structures
• Run operational execution of implemented structures and products as well as reporting to relevant stakeholders
• Be accountable for the measurement of optimal resource allocation (performance and peer) benchmarking.
• Drive the principles of portfolio management and performance measurement into the Pillar and other business areas; and deliver accordingly
• Ensure optimal resource allocation aligned to product, client and segment strategies
• Monitor efficient use of financial resources in performance measurement
• Provide guidance and advise into functional area deepdives to determine performance outcomes as and when required
• Propose pricing & or strategies for optimising the portfolio profitability
• Determine the components of costs & drivers of efficiencies
• Ownership of pricing, methodologies
• Apply statistical knowledge to investment products across retail & corporate & overlay this with business requirements
• Understand the bank’s profitability frameworks and the required minimum risk adjusted returns per product set
• Custodian of  asset, capital & AUM frameworks, and models to enable Invests’ business
• Understand and interrogate frameworks and apply business judgement to ascertain reasonableness
• Re-work theoretical models to enable their practical application
• Use influence to move models in the right direction
• Analyse and optimise Invest balance sheet with regards to scarce financial resources
• Participation in key decision-making bodies
• Provide input into Invest Exco and Group Treasury Exco on all matters to do with financial resources
• Provide input into FRM forums to provide recommendations on how best to allocate financial resources amongst investment products
• Provide input into customer level profitability & drive customer value management actions based on profitability
• Provide input on key credit parameters, acceptable distribution strategies, risk appetite, deal structuring, acceptability of proposed products  and any information required to approve a product/strategy/initiative
• Participate in working forums to provide leadership and input on all matters concerning the profitability of investment products in FNB
• Provide input and direction on how and where products  should be distributed to the market
• Effective reporting
• Develop internal and external reports to cover the range of subjects reflected in the role
