Fitter (Vereeniging) at Rand Water

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent coupled with a recognized trade test as a Fitter or Fitter and Turner.
• 3 years post apprenticeship experience in maintenance, service, installation and repair of Mechanical plant machinery and/or equipment
• A valid Code 08 Driver‘s license and the ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 test.

Primary Duties

• Do all daily, monthly and annual scheduled maintenance tasks.
• Investigate and repair all breakdowns.
• To work overtime when is required.
• Manage allocated section of the plant.
• Maintaining of work standards and ensuring legal and safety compliance.
• Perform standby duties when required, thereby accepting responsibilities for all mechanical installations and required
• decision making that will insure plant availability after normal hours.
• Plan task to ensure that all material, tools, assistants, transport and equipments are available.

Knowledge

• Special training in Pumps
• Knowledge of the OHS act
• Basic cutting and welding
• Maintenance of valves and pipes

Skills

• Good human relations
• Accurate and versatile in all aspects of maintenance with skill to machine in close tolerances
• Problem solving
