    Financial Reporting Specialist

    ACCOUNTABILITY:

    • Reporting to and supporting the Copper Africa Financial Controller, this role is responsible for support in executing all activities and deliverables within the Financial Reporting function for Copper Africa. General activities include oversight, review and support of all financial reporting cycles, initiate and oversee Stewardship reviews, review technical accounting matters, review complex calculations and valuations, finance projects, external reporting and auditor engagement. The incumbent in this role further supports the financial reporting cycles of operating sites, performing in-depth financial-and scenario analysis, reviewing, and developing complex financial models, whilst also providing guidance to and support to finance teams and the implementation of the Copper Africa Finance operating model and objectives.

    • Copper Africa Financial Controller
    • Copper Africa Finance and commercial teams (Regional and site-based teams)
    • Copper Africa Operations teams (Regional and site-based teams)
    • Copper Global Service functions (Business Analysis and Planning, Financial Reporting, Information Systems, Supply Chain, Transaction Services)

    QUALIFICATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Post-Graduate Degree in Commerce of Accounting
    • CA(SA)

    Competencies:

    • Proficient computer literacy including Microsoft office
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, with both verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and dynamics

    Work Experience:

    • 3 to 5 years’ post-article work experience, preferably in the mining/natural resources industry
    • Prior involvement in Financial Reporting and Complex Technical accounting within a robust control environment
    • Prior SAP and/or Oracle experience beneficial

    GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

    • Primary responsibility to support the Africa Financial Controller in executing on all financial reporting functional responsibilities and related deliverables
    • Implement best practice policies and controls to establish a robust control environment governing accounting and reporting functions
    • Support all financial reporting cycles of operating sites as well as corporate entities
    • Ensure compliance with IFRS, OHADA, Group relevant standards, Chart of Accounts and other relevant standards
    • Perform Stewardship reviews on Balance Sheet, Sub-ledgers, Financial arrangements- and policies for operating sites as well as corporate entities
    • Prepare technical accounting papers and propose treatment for complex transactions and financial arrangements
    • Review complex calculations, valuations and financial arrangements to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations and reporting standards (Includes Tax calculations, Financial arrangements, Funding structures, NRV and impairment assessments, etc.)
    • Support strategic and Group finance projects, including reporting to external parties (Contribution report, Emissions reporting, etc.)
    • Provide guidance to- and support finance teams to execute on their accountabilities
    • Support implementation of Copper Africa Finance operating model and objectives
