    Financial Controller (Payroll and Reconciliations) - Western Cape

    Purpose of the job

    • To ensure correct and timeous payments to employees and third parties, balancing and reconciling of all payroll accounts in accordance with policies and procedures

    Key Responsibilities

    • Responsible for daily, weekly and monthly salary payments to bank accounts
    • Report payroll payment errors
    • Provide support to all stakeholders to ensure service delivery standards in payroll
    • Resolve payroll queries 
    • Provide Payroll administrators with required billings and payroll input
    • Ensure all payroll control accounts are reconciled, balanced and posted to the general ledger
    • Ensure the correct and timeous reconciliation and payment of all salary deductions to third parties and authorities
    • Apply for tax directives electronically 
    • Ensure all monthly, bi-annual and annual  tax returns are accurately reconciled and timeously submitted to the relevant revenue authorities (including BLNE countries)
    • Issue annual tax certificates

    Requirements

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

    • Grade 12 (with Accountancy)
    • Tertiary level bookkeeping/accounting qualification will be an advantage
    • 3 years’ experience within a complex payroll environment
    • 3 years’ experience of reconciling control accounts
    • Computer Literacy: Google suite or MS Office (with advanced Excel)
    • Knowledge of payroll system(s), accounting and tax calculations
    • Understanding of payroll legislation (Income Tax, Employment Tax Incentives, Basic Conditions of

    Employment Act, Sectoral Determination, PAYE, UIF, etc.) and guidelines and best practices

    • Knowledge of monthly and annual statutory payroll returns
    • General understanding of provident fund and medical aid regulations and administration
