Job Description

The Excavator Operator operates an excavator in order to clear rocks from the crusher bin, load trucks for clean ups and production and dig sumps where required.The operator is expected to use the Excavator plant effectively for high productivity as well as appreciate the plants maintenance and optimum working parameters.

• Housekeeping standards
• Quantity of delays or disruptions to area because Excavator plant use
   

Quality Excavator operator operate equipment through the ability to:

• Ensure that plant is maintained according to set standards
• Identify any unexpected problems that could require higher level technical support to plant and advise supervisor
• Report to Foreman when task complete
• Accompany Foreman when inspecting completed task
• Ensure that regular inspections are carried out on plant to ensure operating worthiness
• Apply recognised work and safety standards when executing tasks
• Operate Excavator equipment according to task standards
• Move equipment according to heavy duty driving regulations
• Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on plant
• Compile an accurate shift report
   

Teamwork through the ability to:
 

• Follow work instructions and orders
• Ensure proper understanding of the required actions and orders
• Apply recognised work, driving and safety standards
• Ensure that tasks are completed to required quality standards
• Participate in weekly safety meetings
• Report any safety related grievances or issues to the safety rep or Foreman
• Follow work instructions to set standards and procedures
• Identify safety related problems to the Foreman
• Identify actions that could prevent and improve safety and work performance
• Ensure that any allocated support works together as a team while completing tasks
• Promote safety awareness by reminding team members to follow work procedures and identifying unsafe work practices
• Communicate process problems to necessary people
• Support operational team members when they require help
• Help engineering employees to maintain equipment
• Conduct effective two-way communications with team members

Qualifications;

• Grade 12 Numeracy & Literacy
   

Experience;

• 1-year experience operating an excavator
   

Knowledge and Skills;

• Must have Code 10 driving license
• Communication in English
