Job Specification (not totally inclusive)
- Conducting induction training for the new employees and the contractors;
- Conducting Safety inspection, Risk assessment and Safety Audits at KMC Premises;
- Advising the Management about Safety, Health, and Environmental Issues to ensure legal compliance;
- Conducting accidents and incidents investigations as well as compiling reports thereof;
- Preparing and sending out weekly Safety, Health, and Environmental training topics;
- Liaison with the Department of Labour and other institutions and organizations, to comply with legislation;
- Render Safety, Health and Environmental services at Joy Mining and P&H Minepro remote areas;
- Review safety policies and standards;
- Coordinating EHS committee meeting and take minutes;
- Update legal appointments in terms of statutory requirements;
- Promote positive EHS culture and ZERO HARM programs;
- Log all audit/Inspection findings on velocity and follow-up on closing of the findings;
- Supplier liaison i.e., for prescribed glasses (invoicing and payments); facilitate COF for mine personnel; and
- Assist in updating safety files for the remote site and update comply works for Sasol.
Minimum Skills required
- Grade 12 or equivalent;
- National Diploma in Safety Management /Environmental Health Management;
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role in the Manufacturing/ Engineering/Mining environment.
- Knowledge on relevant legislation (OHSA and MHSA);
- Solid knowledge of risk assessment procedure;
- Computer literate in MS Office suit; and
- Must have valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.

- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate with customers and to accept and adopt a competent, responsible attitude; and
- Must be willing to work extended hours when required.
