    Corporate Affairs & Sustainable Impact Manager

    • As the Corporate Affairs and Sustainable Impact Manager, you will support the GM by co-ordinating engagements with regional stakeholders, alongside developing effective programmes from the Group/BU strategy that address community needs.

    Job Description

    Safety & Health

    • Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities
    • Develop discipline-specific plans/systems to reduce exposure to discipline-specific risks
    • Monitor and ensure effectiveness of discipline Safety & Health systems
    • Manage Safety & Health systems within work area

    Performance & Delivery

    Business expectations

    • Provide stakeholder and community information as input to the development of the Life of Asset Plan and the Resource Development Plan
    • Break down relevant Group and BU information on Social Performance matters to site level, translate into site-specific targets and budgets and communicate to on-site teams

    Operational planning

    • Provide Social Performance input into site-specific 5-year plan and lead development of 1-year site budget

    Work management

    • Implement Social Management Plan and ensure integration of SP elements into all site activities
    • Effectively manage on-site SP work within budget and headcount, in alignment with Group/BU Corporate Relations
    • Coordinate all external community and government stakeholder engagements on- and off-site. Lead engagement with communities and other regional key stakeholders
    • Oversee and ensure the operation's delivery against local regulatory requirements as negotiated by Group/BU

    Feedback

    • Proactively identify adjustments required to operating model based on Social Performance strategy, in alignment with GM and site leadership
    • Proactively identify Social Performance-specific challenges and opportunities that new technology could address
    • Embed new technologies into the on-site Social Performance work once solution design is execution-ready

    Sustainability & social

    • Manage delivery of the sustainability activities as relevant to the discipline and set out in the Life of Asset Plan to improve sustainability performance over time
    • Implement and participate in processes that build relationships with key local stakeholders

    People & Teams

    • Create a purpose-led, high-performing culture within the discipline that is aligned with the company values, is inclusive and promotes diversity
    • Lead effective employee & contractor management processes for the discipline
    • Drive people development within discipline
    • Engage in local dispute resolution with employee representative bodies as relevant to discipline, escalate as required

    Compliance

    • Lead compliance of the discipline with external (legislative, regulatory, permitting) local requirements as a minimum level of site performance
    • Ensure compliance with Anglo American requirements within discipline on site
    • Develop required compliance governance for the discipline
    • Oversee investigation of incidents (safety, health, environmental and social) occurring within the discipline
    • Engage in local dispute resolution with employee representative bodies as relevant to discipline, escalate as required

    This role is in the Social Performance department at a Band 5 level reporting to the GM Corporate Affairs & Sustainable Impact

    Qualifications

    • Social science degree or related degree such as development planning
    • Project Management qualification (advantageous)

    Experience and knowledge required:

    • At least 7 years of experience in Social Performance and related matters
    • Experience in working with government institutions and communities
    • Key value drivers across site value chain and interdependence of key levers
    • Principles and elements of the Operating Model focussing on Work Management and its implications on the discipline
    • Project management fundamentals
    • Commercial/business drivers in discipline, business performance variability and underlying causes that define subsequent actions
    • Basic financial metrics, cost and value management & budgeting tools
    • Risk management techniques and critical controls
    • Value chain management within discipline, and awareness of interdependencies across value chain steps
    • Safety, health and environment, legislative, statutory, regulatory and permitting requirements

    Related legislation of host country/region

    • Valid driver’s licence
