    Communications Officer

    Duties 

    • Creating and producing internal newsletters for FAMCRU;
    • Acting as the communications liaison between FAMCRU EXCO, the Community Advisory Board (CAB) and other network members;
    • Developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships;
    • Managing FAMCRU's media communications whilst directing all media and public enquiries to the relevant director or project managers, or responding where possible;
    • Acting as a spokesperson and representing FAMCRU at various events, conferences and meetings;
    • Identifying and liaising with IMPAACT / ACTG / other leadership structures abroad, and relevant NGOs / CBOs / others locally;
    • Coordinating and directing the CAB to meet its research objectives in line with FAMCRU's research agenda;
    • Liaising with CAB members and site staff for common understanding and goals;
    • Inviting speakers to meetings as per the CAB objectives that have been set;
    • Fulfilling an instrumental role in identifying and organising relevant events and outreach activities with the CAB members;
    • Writing, editing and distributing various types of content, including material for a website, press releases, marketing material, and other types of content;
    • Compiling and distributing quarterly and annual reporting to all stakeholders;
    • Determining and facilitating the strategic direction for the CAB in conjunction with the FAMCRU management team and in line with FAMCRU's strategic objectives.

    Job Requirements        

    • A relevant three-year diploma or degree;
    • A valid Code 8 driver's licence;  
    • At least two years' experience in a similar role;
    • Sensitivity towards cultural differences;
    • Sound understanding of political, confidential, and ethical issues;
    • Willingness to travel locally and abroad as and when required.
