Commercial Banking Graduate Programme – Business Support at Standard Bank Group

Standard Bank Commercial Banking is responsible for supporting the development and growth of businesses, servicing the large unlisted corporates.  These clients are nimble and entrepreneurial in nature, and we aim to support them in their activities.  This is done using a combination of our solutions and service models, that help businesses to succeed. “South Africa banks on business. We’re looking for driven, passionate, and agile individuals that are excited to be in a team that partners businesses for growth (specifically for the large entrepreneurial clients we service). Through a deep understanding of the businesses we serve and their aspirations, our Client Coverage teams help our clients navigate the Standard Bank group and our strategic partners to solution for their needs.  With the ultimate aim of creating value for our clients and delivering on their strategic objectives.

This role is ultimately to help the Client Coverage teams support a client, which has to be done within the applicable rules\legislation.  Being a regulated financial institution, the business support role is ultimately responsible for ensuring that we adhere to these diverse business and legislative set of rules or processes.  To ensure that this is done, the successful individuals will be exposed to a diverse set of expertise, client service requirements and process management over the 18 month rotation period.  This  should be a great start to gain a diversified understanding of what happens in a financial institution.

QUALIFICATIONS

Undergraduate (completed) and Post Graduate qualifications in:

• Business Science
• Accounting
• Finance
• Business Management
• Economics
• Entrepreneurship

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Skills the candidate will be exposed to during the rotation over the 18 months are:

• Credit risk analysis,
• Process change management,
• Compliance/regulatory (all non financial risks),
• Data analysis and use,
• Transactional banking products, and
• Trade products.
