    Job Summary: 

    • Applications are invited for a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor position in Entomology. The applicant must have a PhD and appropriate research and teaching experience in Entomology. The School of Animal, Plant and Environmental Sciences is a leader in several disciplines locally and globally, and is one of the top Schools in the Faculty of Science in terms of research output and postgraduate throughput. We have world class facilities for conducting research, including appropriate laboratory facilities and equipment, a quarantine insectary and controlled environment (CONVIRON) chambers and access to field sites.

    Brief Description        
    Minimum qualification / requirement

    •  PhD in Zoology, specialising in Entomology
    •  Experience in teaching undergraduate courses, including large classes
    •  A proven research track record of publications in international peer-reviewed journals
    •  A proven track record of postgraduate student supervision, appropriate for the level of the post
    •  A proven track record, appropriate for the level of the post, of attracting independent research grant funding
    •  Excellent oral and written skills in English
    •  Quantitative skills and an ability to work in statistical languages and software
    •  Valid driver’s licence (at least code B)

    •  Enthusiasm and passion for teaching and research

    Field of research:

    •  We welcome applications from people with knowledge of Entomology.
    •  Proficiencies in experimental design and quantitative skills are essential.

    Key Performance Areas: 

    The candidate is required to:

    •  Teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as engage in curriculum development and course coordination
    •  Organise practical sessions and fieldtrips where applicable
    •  Develop an independent research programme that includes using the existing insectary and controlled environment (CONVIRON) chambers in the school
    •  Organise practical sessions and fieldtrips where applicable
    •  Provide appropriate training and supervision of postgraduate students
    •  Contribute to the running of the school
