Description

• The incumbent would be required to deliver on-air newscasts in an informed and professional manner. This includes writing and producing news stories, as well as conducting interviews, which are relevant to the eNuus audience.

Writing, Production and Research

• Translating English stories into Afrikaans and writing original Afrikaans news copy, adhering to the duration and the facts
• Sending relevant visuals and soundbytes through to edit suites
• Checking wire services and news feeds for breaking news
• Assisting with news updates and checking accuracy
• Researching and scripting interviews
• Staying abreast of current affairs in order to be ready for breaking and    developing stories
• Doing voice-overs when required

Anchoring

• Arriving at least 90 minutes before going on air in order to prepare and get make-up done
• Dressing as per the style guide
• Preparing for and rehearsing Afrikaans news bulletins
• Anchoring Afrikaans news bulletins
• Conducting live and pre-recorded interviews
• Ad libbing to live visuals during breaking stories

Editorial

• Attending editorial meetings
• Giving input on news content which is on target for the eNuus audience
• Adhering to editorial code and social media policy
• Skills may be reasonably applied to the same or similar group of tasks as required for the
• eNuus production process and broadcast

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and/or Advanced Diploma in Journalism

Experience

• 5 years inJournalism and/or Anchoring

Computer Literacy

• MS Office Suite - Intermediate
