Purpose Statement

• To motivate, steer and support the execution of the Data Governance framework, policies and standards by applying data management techniques and methodologies.

• Responsible for the operational execution of the effective adoption and oversight of one of the Data Governance portfolios across the organisation.

Experience

Minimum:

• 2 years’ proven experience within one of the Data Governance and Data Management portfolios

Ideal:

• 4 years’ proven experience within one of the Data Governance and Data Management portfolios

Qualifications (Minimum)

• Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or Information Management

Knowledge

Min:

Detailed Knowledge:

• Solid understanding of databases and data structures

• IT systems development processes

• Business analysis and design

• Standards and governance

• Familiar with regulatory requirements such as POPI, GDPR and PCI DSS

• One of the Data Governance and Data Management portfolios

• Demonstrated consulting skills, with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement system design

• Data governance practices, business and technology issues related to data protection

• Corporate and data governance practices

• DAMA-DMBOK principles

Ideal:

Knowledge of

• Conducting, assessing or governing data classification, records management or data disposal processes

• Industry leading data governance and management practices

• Data visualisation of Data Governance and management KPI’s

• Agile development life cycle

• Information systems and information system architecture
