What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

• In this crucial role, you will engage in a variety of accounting responsibilities, including processing monthly entries, partaking in month-end close activities, reconciling accounts, and computing VAT. You will also be instrumental in preparing monthly VAT calculations and returns, filing VAT returns, reviewing financial and tax documents, and preparing tax returns. This role allows you to demonstrate your expertise in financial and tax practices while building strong relationships with clients through effective communication.
• You’ll work closely with the Owner of the business who has high energy and is passionate about his business.

Where you’ll be doing it

• A small but well established and respected accounting firm based in Green Point that is known for their commitment to excellence and unwavering dedication to clients. Your hours can have some flexibility of sorts but essentially the core working hours are 08:30 to 17:00. There are 14 employees and they’re a close knit team that are family-orientated. The company can be described as fast paced but an informal feel to it and most of the employees have been there a number of years.

What you’ll need

• We’re looking for someone with an Accounting or Finance tertiary qualification and more than 3 years of experience in an accounting firm, with a profound understanding of financial, tax, VAT, and accounting principles. You should possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in software such as Pastel, Xero, CaseWare, and Microsoft Excel. You’ll need to be able to work at a fast pace, be able to work well with the Owner who is high energy and often pulled in many different directions so you’ll need to be super organised.
