Operations Business Leader at Old Mutual South Africa

Job description

This role is accountable for all operations in a client service business unit in a large financial services organisation, achieving strategic objectives through other managers and their teams over periods of 1 to 3 years.

• Operates in, and rapidly responds to the demands of, a constantly changing environment.

• Sets direction for an operational unit and develops and takes accountability for a business plan which is aligned to the segment strategy.

• Integrates delivery and metrics across the people, process, finance and customer dimensions of the business at a strategic and tactical level.

• Delivers on strategic projects as sponsor or owner.

• Accountable for thought leadership and best operating practice in response to external environment.

• Builds effective collaborative relationships with stakeholders, including segment and channel.

• Strong focus on value chain management and reporting

• Manages between 200 - 400 staff, including direct and indirect reports and managers at multiple levels.

• Strong focus on direction setting and achieving operational results through building a strong operational management team, with support functions (HR, communication, process management).

• Ability to operate operationally, tactically and strategically and develop the appropriate structures.

• Manages service delivery, including key customer/client indicators, through a team of managers.

• Manages implementation of and adherence to regulatory requirements.

• Actively drives a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and service excellence.

• Displays a deep passion for and understanding of customer and stakeholder needs and aligns operational delivery.

• Stays abreast of competitors and implements best practice to drive operational competitiveness.

• Develops and responds to key metrics.

• Acts as sponsor on strategic projects.

Role Requirements

• Post Matric qualification (Commerce)

• 10 years business experience

• 5 years middle management experience

• Senior management experience in similar environment preferred
