    Risk Manager

    Job description

    JOB OVERVIEW:

    The overall management of the Health and Safety and Security function in a mining environment by ensuring compliance to external legal requirements (MHSA and DMR regulations) and internal legal related requirements and standards.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    BTech Safety Management

    YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    5 years in a Risk or Health and Safety Leadership role

    JOB FUNCTION:

    • In depth Knowledge and understanding of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), OHSAS 18001, environmental systems (ISO 14001) and DEKRA as applicable to the mining and manufacturing industry
    • Liason with and in depth knowledge of DMR requirements, standards and regulations
    • Management of the entire Health & Safety function in line with the MHSA, DMR requirements and regulations
    • Management of the Security and Emergency function at the Mine
    • Chief Safety Officer in terms of the MHSA
    • Management of the integrated Risk Management System at the Mine
    • Management of Security and all emergency procedures at the Mine
    • Management and enhancement of Company Health and Safety strategies
    • Ensure compliance and performance of Plant Health, Safety and Security systems according to internal standards and legal requirements
    • Conduct and facilitate Risk Assessments, Legal Appointments
    • Manage the integration of Contractors on site
    • Management and control of the Occupational Health Clinic and liason with the OMP
    • Manage external audits – SABS, DMR, DoL, DEKRA,JAP
    • Manage and coordinate induction and re-induction of all employees
    • Ensure legal register are updated
    • Coordinate management of COP’s
    • Manage and administer Rail Safety procedures and documentation
    • Interpret and action all external surveys and ensure compliance
