    Tax Accountant

    Job description

    Key Leadership Capabilities

    This role does not have any direct reports, however coaching and leadership of Brand teams plus influencing and coaching all levels from Director to Assistant Brand Manager is core to the success of the role.

    The role will also have to work with numerous functions across Diageo to ensure delivery of objectives and alignment with global and regional best practice, inputs, platforms and projects.

    The role demands excellent thinking and planning skills, attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, flexible influencing style, a passion for cross-functional working and a team player.

    Top accountabilities

    • Customs
    • Ensuring In-bond facility is compliant and bond sheets are up to date through liaison with depots and Isipingo facility
    • Obtain permission from SARS to move imported bulk from in-bond to duty paid prior to bottling
    • Excise
    • Comply with all requirements when selling or exporting bulk/finished goods
    • Timely submission of accounts to enable payments as per SARS timetable
    • Manage destructions to maximise excise recovery
    • Master data, new SKU set up, maintaining warehouse numbers, addresses, tariff headings, rates and calendar for excise periods.
    • Customs and Excise
    • Correct completion of the documentation provided for in the act
    • Assist with SARS Audits
    • Process all movements in SAP
    • Framing of entries on Compu-Clearing
    • Follow up and resolving of exceptions as highlighted by Desmat
    • Liaise with OTC team regarding inbond sales and exports
    • Liaise with Blending team and supply regarding bulk cash planning and payments.
    • Ensuring timeous updating of DA32 and PV’s (sars documents) and ensuring all info is captured and within time lines for month end.
    • Sign off new in-bond and export customer applications
    • Reconcile SAP with excise accounts and customs payments
    • Recordkeeping as per SARS requirements and company policy in respect of retention period.
    • Ensure that for all export and in-bond sales we claim back the excise within 4 weeks from when the stock left the warehouse.
    • Ensure that customs payments are stamped at all SARS offices to ensure that we are not taken off the deferment system.

    Qualifications and Experience Required

    Qualifications And Experience

    • B.Com or similar post matric qualification
    • Good knowledge of the Customs and Excise Act
    • Relevant experience (minimum three years) working with Customs and Excise in a production facility
