Job Purpose:

Provides a professional Architectural service through the management of the process of analyzing, investigating, assessing, defining, conceptualizing and designing major physical built interventions in the environment and, preparing and defending contractual terms and conditions or, resolving disputes, and providing information and advice on best practices to guide, enable and ensure delivery of architectural products that responds to client requirements and is adaptable to environmental, social and legislative changes and demands.

Key Responsibility Areas:

• Prepare business to present the sustainability of complex architectural projects based on feasibility studies and cost/ value analysis.
• Applies professional architectural principles to research, co-ordinate, organise and prepare designs for built interventions with complex variables.
• Control the contract management process, recommend appointments, facilitates agreement and clarifies interpretations.
• Conduct site visits and oversee complex architectural project deliverables against specifications, quality standards, cost and timelines.
• Provide alternative solutions to unblock delays and constraints impacting on the achievement of milestones.
• Attend to disputes and apply conflict resolution procedures to address deviations/ variations from the scope and terms and conditions of the appointment.
• Brief project owners on milestones and/ or, variations and, presents contingency plans and strategies.
• Manage project administrative processes relating to finalization and completion of progress reports and contractual claims and, vets and approve documentation.
• Provides comments on building plans based on legal prescripts and principles regulating the practice.
• Participate in consultative meetings and disseminate information and advice on the application of professional architectural principles to manage complex projects.
• Prepare progress and performance reports on functional applications and responds to correspondence relating to architectural development projects.

Essential Requirements:

• Master of Architecture or equivalent or registration with the South African Council of Architectural Professionals as a Candidate Architect.
• Valid motor vehicle drivers license (Code B).
• Computer literacy in advanced and/or specialised software packages.
