Job description

The Chief Audit Executive (CAE) position is a top management role, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The incumbent will participate, interact and contribute at an executive level, with the divisional boards and the Audit and Compliance Committee.

The key areas of responsibility:

• Strategic leadership of the Group’s internal audit function, including the development and delivery of an internal audit strategy that is aligned to the Group’s strategy.
• Development, implementation and maintenance of internal audit policies, frameworks, standards and methodologies, including the implementation of a continuous quality improvement programme
• Resource and People management (maintaining a professional audit department with excellent knowledge, skill and experience to meet the requirements of the internal audit mandate)
• Strategic and risk-based planning
• Facilitation of combined assurance, in particular advancing the external audit reliance model
• Reporting, including service divisions and main board

The minimum key requirements:

• You are either a qualified CA(SA) or CIA
• 3-5 years’ experience in leading an Internal Audit function (preferably in a JSE listed company/ international company). Suitably experienced applicants from the external audit environment would also be considered.
• Advanced IT Audit knowledge. CISA certification would be an advantage
• Proficiency in Governance, Risk and Control standards and proven ability to apply and integrate these in a business-friendly manner
• Demonstrated experience in Internal Audit innovation, integration of data analytics and new age technologies
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and business-minded approach to internal audit
• Advanced communication skills, written and verbal (including negotiation and facilitation)
• Concise reporting skills with proven business friendly process improvement skills
• Strong interpersonal skills, including team and EQ skills
