    Graphic Designer

    Job Description

    Position Summary:

    • The Graphic Designer is responsible for developing various images, animation and other design deliverables across multiple types of media for marketing material, performance improvement guides and associated learning material as part of a content development and publishing team.
    • S/he works from briefs to understand the user/learner needs and interpret concepts and ideas into visual material that meet EY Catalyst style and quality standards. S/he needs to appropriate the relevant amount of time based on the value and urgency of multiple jobs in order to meet deadlines.

    Essential Functions of the Job

    •  Interpret creative and technical briefs from SMRs and Content developers for multiple types of media design
    •  Study information and materials to plan concepts for design and prepare rough drafts of material based on the brief
    •  Design graphics that identify a product or communicate a concept, framework, or process
    •  Determine colours, images, text style, and shapes to create layout in compliance to brand and style rules
    •  Create electronic versions of designs using computer software ? Adobe Applications
    •  Tag, store, and manage all media appropriately in a learning and content management system
    •  Ensure legal compliance with respect to purchased media
    •  Relate with external printers or contractors if needed to ensure highest quality and deadlines are met
    •  Review final layouts to make suggestions for improvement
    •  Proofread designs for errors before final printing or publishing
    •  Perform research for new digital design trends, responsive design and software or design tools
    •  Incorporate recommended changes by the content developers and/or clients into the final design
    •  Where required create interactive design
    •  Work as part of a team with SMRs, technical writers, editors, proofreaders, application developers, and other specialists
    • Analytical and Decision making Responsibilities
    •  Awareness of the user/learner for whom the material is intended and the ability to convey the idea, concept, framework and information in a way that is engaging, clear and informative
    •  Ability to make decisions regarding work priorities across multiple projects, to ensure deadlines are met, or additional resources deployed and/or delivery expectations managed

    Desired Skills and Experience
    Experience Requirements

    •  Excellent design and animation skills as well as deep listening and interpretation skills
    •  3-6 years of experience in interpreting creative briefs and delivering design objects to spec and on target across various media channels

    Knowledge and Skills Requirements

     Computer skills:

    • Adobe Creative Cloud
    • Creativity and innovation skills: Ability to develop unique and visually appealing ways to effectively communicate concepts, information and ideas
    •  Interpretation skills: The ability to interpret an idea into an image, icon, info graphic, animation using the appropriate computer software
    •  Attention to details: Work with both text and graphics to convey the messages, giving attention to the minutest detail to get things right

     Deadline oriented:

    • Ability to meet deadlines is needed to excel on the job
    •  Flexibility and multitasking skills: Ability to work on more than one assignment at a time to be able to complete projects before their deadline is reached
    •  Communication and relational skills: Ability to communicate and collaborate with SMRs and other content developers, as well as supervisors, co-workers, subordinates, and persons outside the organization

    Job requirements:

    •  Graduate degree in Graphic Design or a National Diploma in Graphic Design (along with a proven track record) and skills in Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
    •  Outstanding English language skills

    Experience:

    • Minimum 3 - 6 years in a creative design team, preferably in digital publishing design space
    • Beneficial: experience creating visual material for business or operational content.
