    Group Compliance Officer

    Job description

    Duties / Responsibilities:

    • Compile and maintain a comprehensive regulatory universe or profile for AECI Group ranking in line with risk evaluation scales.
    • Develop and review periodically a compliance monitoring and co-ordination framework, including appropriate compliance processes.
    • Monitor key regulatory instruments through executing a regular schedule of communications with senior management in the operating companies and Group.
    • Consult and co-ordinate with the Executive Committee, SHEQ, Internal Audi, Risk Management, the Legal Department and the operating companies to ensure proper policies and procedures for managing compliance risk.
    • Review and audit compliance reports relating to compliance-risk management and identify issues of non-compliance with the Integrated Compliance Framework and Compliance Policies and notify and give advice to key management, EC, Risk Committee and Board on the status of resolutions.
    • Draft the annual Group compliance report to be presented to the Executive Committee and Risk Committee.
    • Ensure continuous monitoring of compliance assessments throughout the Group and develop appropriate reporting templates suitable for purpose.
    • Review and scan external environment of new developments in regulatory environment and advise Group accordingly.
    • Ensure a focused roll-out of the AECI’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and periodically assess compliance and report to EC and Social and Ethics Committee.
    • Provide training and guidance on regulatory compliance to the operating companies.
    • Benchmark the group’s ERM with companies in similar markets.
    • Assist and support business in developing sound relationships with key regulators, develop an issue log and report on materiality.
    • Perform site visits to operating companies in order to appraise the quality of their regulatory compliance framework.
    • Conduct benchmarks and develop best practice approach to compliance management and implement across the Group, including fraud risk management.

    Qualifications / Experience:

    • A Bachelor’s degree or LLB with a professional compliance management qualification will be an advantage.
    • Minimum of 8 years legal / business experience of which at least 3 should be in assurance field eg: compliance or risk management etc.
    • Practical experience of launching Integrated Compliance programs across a large business footprint and diverse industries.
    • Sound knowledge of Corporate Governance in public listed companies.
