    Lecturer: Creative Development (Independent Contractor)

    Job Purpose:

    • Lecturing and academic delivery to ensure students are guided and supported in their learning to achieve module outcomes

    Preferred Education:

    • Honours Degree / Masters in a creative field, such as Fine Art, Theatre, Writing or Design​

    Progamme Manager: Brand Strategy, Brand Management And Digital Marketing

    Job Purpose:
    To provide academic field leadership and to manage the planning and development of a programme or programmes nationally. This includes qualification design, module development and ensuring programme/s meet academic requirements. Acts as the interface between the IIE Central Academic Team, Quality Assurance Team, the National and Campus Academic teams and, where applicable, Operations teams. Provides campus support in matters related to academics and issues that may impact students' and lecturers' experience of the brand. Acts as brand ambassador to build and nurture external professional and academic field partnerships. The Programme Manager will be responsible for the timeous development, quality assurance and maintenance of fit-for-purpose, up-to-date curricula and the planning of the learning experience. Furthermore, the Programme Manager is responsible for the effective interaction between the campus and faculty/department with respect to all matters related to the IIE and the brand and in particular, the modules or programmes for which s/he is primarily responsible.

    Reporting to: Portfolio Manager

    Preferred Education: 
    Master's degree in the field or and equivalent at NQF level 9, but a PhD is preferred.
    Have a background in at least two of the following areas of specialization:

    • Digital Marketing
    • Brand Strategy and Management
    • Brand Financial Performance and Metrics
    • Innovation and Entrepreneurship

    Functional Competencies:

    • Excellent communication skills, particularly in English, both verbal and written, including the ability to communicate with a range of audiences in a manner that is clear and concise.
    • Interpersonal skills characterised by tact and diplomacy and an ongoing ability to participate effectively in a team that is spread across the country.
    • The skill to inspire others and the ability to apply matrix management and communication structures.
    •  Capacity to plan and organise own work and to perform against tight deadlines.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Ability to collaborate with other academics and colleagues within the faculty and brands.
    • Proven ability to work constructively as part of a team, display initiative and work strategically and independently with limited supervision.
    • Proven record of managing projects to a successful conclusion.
    • Able to acquire new skills to keep up with new technologies and or new knowledge areas within relevant disciplines.

    Work Experience:

    • Preferably, at least three years of lecturing experience in the brand context (full or part-time) in a public or private post-school provider. Under exceptional circumstances, aligned experience will be considered.
    • Experience in writing curriculum, material and assessment for student learning.
    • Some understanding of the HE regulatory environment.
    • Understanding of the NQF and associated regulatory environment.
    • Experience with online curriculum delivery systems would be advantageous.
    • Industry experience at specialist level or managerial level (three years).
    • Hands-on Digital Marketing experience with a proven track record.
    • Experience with contemporary technology and analytics associated with digital marketing.

    Key Performance Areas:

    Academic Management and Leadership

    • Review the development and implementation of the curriculum, subject to the policies and governance procedures of the IIE.
    • Ensure that the curriculum meets industry needs, given external and internal stakeholder inputs.
    • Continuously track local and global field developments to ensure the brand delivers relevant and current curricula and meets stakeholder needs.
    • Identify opportunities for the innovation of the curriculum and deliver enhancements according to IIE requirements and development cycles.
    • Provide guidance and input to the IIE's Instructional Designers on the design of learning experiences and assessments suitable to the discipline.
    • Establish and maintain effective interaction between the campuses and faculty/department concerning the particular programmes or modules for which s/he is responsible.
    • Act as a central point for all material and assessment queries and escalate these as required.
    • Identify, brief and monitor programme and module developers and quality assurance of their outputs.
    • Provide advice on assessment queries and incidents when requested
    • Analyse and respond to Quality Assurance feedback such as Programme Reviews and external moderation reports.
    • Identify moderators for the designated modules, review moderators' feedback and advise problem-solving strategies when required.
    • Support capacity building on campuses and lecture/supervise (contact or distance) on a cyclical basis.
    • Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of all IIE policies.
    • Participate in and contribute to the IIE/brand/faculty's scholarly activities, particularly research seminars and workshop programmes.
    • Participate in key governance structures and committees as required.  

    Brand Strategy and Marketing and Sales support:

    • Participate in the strategic planning of the Vega Brand
    • Provide specialist knowledge and support to the national marketing and sales team.
    • Review programme-specific marketing material.

     

    Campus Support:

    • Guide module Lecturers and Discipline leaders nationally in the implementation of module material and assessments.
    • Track student performance, in collaboration with teaching and learning managers, in designated programmes and advise, when requested,
    • Provide guidance to campuses in the selection, approval and development of the teaching team in the cognate area.
    • Orientate campuses on new programme developments and trends.
    • Provide leadership, in collaboration with the campus academic teams and operations teams to co-ordinate and plan resource allocation for all aspects of running a successful programme e.g. Competitions, Activations, Simulations, Game Jams, Portfolio Nights, Hackathons etc.
    • Screen and approve Lecturer appointments via APS for Vega-managed modules.

    Professional Relationships, Research and Scholarship:

    • Develop and maintain relationships with industry and academics in the field and/or discipline.
    • Academic positioning of IIE's brand professional training and development for the world of work.
    • Practice scholarship by engaging with/in professional bodies, conferences, external partner faculty boards, external moderation panels, and committees.
    • Contribute to the development of the brand's research culture.
    • Deliver research outputs as agreed and in line with career progression and postgraduate studies.

    Lecturer: Financial Management (Independent Contractor)

    Job Purpose:

    Preferred Education:
    ​Ideal:

    • Honours in Finance/Financial Management/Accounting & with Finance/Financial Management/Accounting 1st - 3rd year in undergraduate.

    Alternatively:

    • Honours in one of the Business related fields (e.g. investment/banking, entrepreneurship, risk or project management) – with undergraduate degree with Finance/Financial Management/Accounting 1st - 3rd year

    OR

    • Degree with Finance/Financial Management/Accounting or a similarly related field (e.g. investment/banking, entrepreneurship, risk, business or business management) to the third year level PLUS either an MBA or a postgraduate diploma in business or education

    Full-Time Lecturer - User Experience Design - Durban

    Job Purpose:

    • Lecturing and academic delivery to ensure students are guided and supported in their learning to achieve module outcomes. Contribute to research activities/outputs and teaching and learning (T&L) resource for the campus and provide subject matter expert (SME) input to the relevant programme manager. Track student progress and provide support for students.
    • Mark assessments within the stipulated timelines and provide constructive feedback to students.

    Preferred Education:
    ​​Ideal:

    • Honours Degree / Masters in Digital Design, Interaction Design, UX Design, Digital Media Design with specialisation in Interaction Design.

    Alternatively:

    • NQF 8 qualification in a design field or education with a first degree in BIS Multimedia, Digital Technologies, Digital Arts and at least 2 years industry experience as a digital, UX or Interaction Designer. A solid foundation in web design, and UX design is key. 

    Software Knowledge required:

    • Professional Portfolio to illustrate expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud Software (specifically Premiere Pro, Audition and After Effects as well as Photoshop and Illustrator)​. Coding and web design experience. Web and mobile front-end development skills, including Html5, CSS3, and Bootstrap required. Basic web coding languages such as Html5 and CSS3 needed.

    Work Experience

    • ​Lecturing experience essential.
    • At least 2 years industry experience as a digital, UX or Interaction Designer. A solid foundation in web design, and UX design is key. 


    Key Performance Areas:

    Lecturing:

    • Lecture programming modules across various modes of delivery where relevant.
    • Lesson preparation, delivery and all related teaching and assessment activities.
    • Arrange guest lecturers for every module delivered each semester to compliment the students learning experience
    • Marking of assessments and giving specific constructive feedback to students in subjects lectured according to IIE policy.
    • May be required to internally moderate assessments scripts that fall within their subject fields, where necessary across IIE sites of delivery.
    • Provide module feedback and participate in meetings to discuss programmes.

    Lecturer Development and Support:

    • Support function to T&L on campus and to The IIE.
    • Support the adoption of teaching and learning strategies and approaches advocated by the IIE.
    • Assisting in any required research related to teaching and Learning.

    Student Development & Support:

    • Championing/leading and managing academic development and support for a specific programme and its students.
    • Tracking student success and implementing support interventions where required.

     Research & Scholarship:

    • The incumbent is required to promote a culture of scholarship within their practice, discipline and campus/team and is also required to contribute towards The IIE’s Vega School achieving its annual research output targets.

    • Attend campus events and meetings such as Open Days, training meetings and Campus Team meetings.
    • Keep a comprehensive portfolio of evidence (of teaching) as defined by the brand.
    • Participate in various campus collaborative endeavours.

    Lecturer: Introduction To Research (Independent Contractor)

    Job Purpose:

    • Lecturing and academic delivery to ensure students are guided and supported in their learning to achieve module outcomes

    Preferred Education:
    Ideal:

    • Master's Degree that includes a research methodology subject with exposure to a range of research methodologies e.g., both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methodologies. A research dissertation/project in the discipline of the programme on which the module is being offered and to which the lecturer will be assigned.                                                                                                                                Alternatively:
    • Honours Degree that includes a research methodology subject with exposure to a range of research methodologies e.g., both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methodologies and a research dissertation/project in the discipline of the programme on which the module is being offered and to which the lecturer will be assigned.
    • There should also be a generalised research methodology component on undergraduate transcript.

    • South African LLM

    Alternatively: 

    • South African 5 or 4-year degree (B.Proc and/or LLB)
    • Having been admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa and/or having been admitted as an advocate of the High Court of South Africa and having successfully completed pupillage is preferable.
