    Engineering Foreman (Control & Instrumentation)

    Job Description

    • As the Control & Instrumentation Engineering Foreman, you will be responsible to ensure that all systems are maintained to ensure safe operation and optimised so that the capacity to the production is maximised, and targets are met. This will include overseeing the maintenance and repair of all electrical equipment and machines, control and instrumentation equipment, and process control networks to ensure availability for the operations according to set target as well as conducting regular inspections on equipment.

    More of your responsibilities will include:

    • Maintaining a safe work practices and a safe working environment by ensuring that legal requirements and group working standards and policies related to electrical, electrical, control and instrumentation engineering are implemented and followed on the Operations and Projects
    • Conducting equipment failure analysis, root cause analysis, best practice, and repair strategies to ensure optimal use and quality of electrical, control and instrumentation services as well as the reporting thereof on a regular basis
    • Ensuring a safe installation operation and maintenance of all electrical and instrumentation equipment in your area of responsibility
    • Ensuring that programmable logic control (PLC) and supervisory systems are programmed and maintained to Thungela specifications
    • Ensuring that daily, weekly, and monthly equipment planned maintenance schedules are in place and complied with
    • Ensuring the installation and commissioning of equipment associated with the electrical, control and instrumentation department to ensure the safe operation and its effectiveness
    • Ensuring the refurbishment and repair work completed during breakdowns and planned maintenance
    • System trouble shooting and hardware problem resolution ensure that all equipment faults are correctly diagnosed and analysed
    • Ensuring that machinery and equipment perform safely to design capabilities while ensuring environmental compliance

    Qualifications

    • Matric/ Equivalent
    • Instrumentation/ Electronic/ Electrical (light current)/ Trade Test
    • Diploma in light electrical or equivalent (it will be an advantage)

    Experience & Knowledge

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as Senior technician / Technician/ General Engineering Supervisor/
    • Completion of a Medium Voltage or operating regulations for high voltage systems course
    • An extensive in-depth knowledge electrical distribution networks and equipment
    • An extensive practical and working knowledge of various industrial communication and control system networks
    • An in-depth knowledge of applicable SCADA (WINCC & Android) systems
    • An in-depth knowledge of applicable EMS (Ningi & RTS) systems
    • Advanced computer literacy: MS Office, SCADA and PLC (Siemen Step 7,1500, Simatic Manager, TIA) software
    • An in-depth knowledge of technical engineering aspects such as outside equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and South Africa Bureau of Standards (SABS)
    • A good working knowledge and understanding of machinery and equipment used in the Mining Industry

    SC Systems Support Advisor - JHB

    Job Description

    • You will ensure the delivery of an efficient system support for Ariba systems and associated integrations to maintain optimal availability and also serve as first line support for Ariba, overseeing Query Management, Error Resolution, and managing inquiries from vendors and end-users, including non-technical application error management.

    More of your responsibilities will include:

    • Coordinating systems maintenance, manage support packs, analyse trends in system incidents, and conduct ongoing assessments of recurring issues
    • Conducting Root Cause Analysis and Solution Design as part of Tier-3 support for complex problems
    • Managing the Ariba support portal, addressing queries from vendors and end-users, and coordinate effective end user and vendor access to Ariba systems.
    • Provide training on the Ariba system for superusers in both business units and vendor organisations in collaboration with the SC Master Data Governance Specialist
    • Perform effective downstream Ariba onboarding services, optimising the process and Ariba systems usage
    • Coordinate with Master Data Governance for onboarding practices and collaborate on converting upstream to downstream vendors
    • Drive vendor integration and account maintenance, supporting and engaging with vendors across business units, host communities, and strategic vendors.
    •  Manage activations, deactivations, and account upgrades/downgrades post-enablement
    • Implement, maintain, and monitor the Ariba e-invoicing module, executing end-to-end processes for Standard Account vendor enablement
    • Ensure that Ariba systems and the downstream onboarding process remain fit-for-purpose for the business through conducting analysis of new requirements and supporting their implementation
    • Assess Ariba systems usage and advise on opportunity for expansion / change of functionality
    • Identify and examine new business requirements and determine timely and effective solutions through documenting business systems requirements.
    • Effectively manage all stakeholders related to Ariba system support and downstream onboarding
    • Support proactive identification of potential / emerging risks related to the Ariba systems and downstream onboarding to ensure that the Ariba systems remain available and effective, and risks are visible and adequately mitigated

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain management, Information Management or related field (NQF 7)

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Minimum of 5 years in Supply chain or information technology (With focus on supporting Ariba and other SC technology)
    • Experience with Ariba systems and associated integrations
    • Experience with technology supporting vendor integration and maintenance
