Introduction to the role
You will be required to assist the Lead Cost Engineer and Project Controls Manager (if applicable) in planning, monitoring and reporting the status of project manhours, indirect costs, capital costs and owner’s costs (if applicable) by applying relevant cost management methodology, procedures and systems. The supporting and managing multiple major projects and / or provide cost control support to a number of smaller projects and studies to compile and co-ordinate the smooth running of the company projects and studies’ cost reports, in support of the relevant project / study managers.

Zutari is currently recruiting for a structural engineer with extensive experience in the dam, hydropower, and water hydraulics domains, to be based in Tshwane.
Role responsibilities
The particular need for this role is for a person who has an aptitude to assist in strategic growth of the water business:
Business development and work winning)
Must have technical skills in the structural designs of dams, hydraulic structures, commercial acumen
Co-ordination of civil, mechanical & electrical disciplines in the dam and hydropower industries
Extensive knowledge in project management, as well as reporting and stakeholder liaison on the full suite of project matters.
Perform highly complex structural engineering designs, calculations, and analysis of dams as and hydropower plants and pump stations [specifically water retaining structures, intake structures, pipelines, and reservoirs, with key contributions on 3D models, technical drawings and details].
Assist in preparing and coordinating tenders/bids and contribute to winning work initiatives.
Contractual and commercial acumen and assist in the management of construction contracts.
Ensure timely delivery of projects, within scope and budget.
Establish a clear understanding of the project goals and stakeholder expectations, specifically, managing client expectations and ensuring that delivery meets expectations
Lead and coordinate small, medium, and integrated projects including management of delivery teams, and reporting on budgets and schedules, and maintaining team morale
Produce other key deliverables on projects, such as technical reports, specifications, and bills of quantities.
Be a team player that is willing to collaborate across multiple disciplines and international geographies.
Establish initial project schedules and regularly maintain project schedules
Act as senior project-level point of contact for clients
Resolve project level issues independently
Mentor junior engineers, project managers/coordinators
Support business development activities
Motivate the project team towards the determined objectives, by generating enthusiasm for the project, and by maintaining continued personal interest in achieving set targets
