    Manager: Livelihoods

    Position Purpose:

    • The Portfolio Manager: Livelihoods will be responsible for building a suitable direction in the Transnet Foundation for this new portfolio.
    • The Portfolio Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and providing oversight of the new Foundation strategy geared towards structuring an ecosystem of high-impact community care and wellbeing programmed with a focus onincreasing the Foundation’s footprint in the following socio-economic systems.
    • Food security, responses to gender-based violence, and care for orphaned and vulnerable children.

    Position outputs:

    • Develop innovative processes to integrate the Socioeconomic Infrastructure Development (SEID) projects and shift the model towards greater efficiency to make the projects sustainable
    • Manage social investment timelines more efficiently and create sustainable community development.
    • Working closely with the CSI Fund and Fundraising Portfolio to ensure a systemic and needs driven approach to responding to community socioeconomic needs.
    • Implement opportunities for employee volunteerism and create internal ownership of projects by Transnet staff and strengthen the company and Foundation’s internal branding.
    • Budget planning, allocation, and monitoring support of the portfolio in liaison with the finance manager.
    • Establish value adding and sustainable partnerships to leverage resources with government departments, reputable non-profit organizations, community-based organizations, donors, and corporate partners.
    • Drive and implement the monitoring of strategic and operational plans for the Transnet Foundation Livelihoods portfolio including the expansion of the portfolio’s strategy as well as management of community needs initiatives.
    • Draft, negotiate, and monitor the implementation of contracts for the portfolio.
    • Build and develop relationships with relevant stakeholders especially community forums, employee volunteers, and NGOs to sustain working relationships and partnerships for all projects.
    • Manage the reporting process and oversight of the collection of monitoring and evaluation data gathering responding to annual internal and external audit requirements.
    • Build systems for monitoring and evaluation specific to portfolio outcomes to ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting of project progress – requires continued engagement with the Monitoring and Evaluation portfolio team.
    • Manage portfolio team and ensure implementation of projects by providing oversight of the Project Manager and Project Administrator.
    • Manage internal stakeholder engagement focused on Operating Divisions and monitoring their community needs related to the Livelihoods Portfolio.
    • Ensure effective reporting of project impact across the portfolio – integral to contributing to the overall Transnet Foundation Annual Report and part of the deliverables of this role will include the leading of the project implementation team to contribute to the report.
    • Navigating the complex systemic socioeconomic challenges that communities face to ensure high-impact projects are being implemented towards a directed response while also managing high demand and needs of potential beneficiaries.
    • Directing the decision-making efforts of the CSI Fund to ensure community needs are represented as well as an effective decision-making structure is developed on where responses will be provided.
    • Build visibility of Transnet Foundation Livelihoods Portfolio in liaison with communications and brand teams.
    • Contribute towards the continued development of the social responsibility strategy for Transnet Foundation and operating units.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences
    • 8 – 10 years’ experience in CSI environment
    • At least 5 years management experience
