    Business Specialist

    What will you do?

    • A business specialist reviews every aspect of company operations for the purpose of supporting and improving business processes and system changes, collaborating with business analysts and assisting in the System Development Life Cycle process in order to better serve customers and to make the company operations more efficient.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide operational production support and guidance to Sanlam Group Risk staff on complex process issues, system constraints as well as training support for system navigation and manual processes
    • Provide regular feedback to Project Manager and business managers on progress, issues and potential solutions for successful delivery on requested tasks
    • Identify business constraints and accordingly develop corrective actions.
    • Analyze root causes of business issues and develop appropriate resolutions.
    • Respond to queries and concerns from management in a timely fashion.
    • Obtain and analyze business data for critical decision-making purposes.
    • Liaise with Trainers on problem areas, identifying and reporting training gaps, facilitate ‘train the trainer’ sessions and assist in appropriate training activities
    • Logging, tracking, user acceptance testing and sign off as business user on IT development of data fixes, system bugs, enhancements and new developments while identifying and raising risks so that it can be resolved.
    • Process improvements and system optimization to enhance business efficiency and effectiveness by reviewing Sanlam Group Risk’s internal processes, procedures and policies and provides recommendations for future enhancements including systems enhancements as well as changes to business rules and processes
    • Participation within projects, offering guidance and assist with the refinement of the business requirement for enhancements and new development within the Project- and Agile teams and work with the development team to validate and develop the most appropriate solution, assisting with testing done in the Agile teams during sprints and work with the BA to ensure that testing is comprehensive. Participate in Sprint Planning, Refinement, Retrospective and daily Scrum meetings for Agile projects.

     
    Qualification and Experience

    • Matric /Grade 12 with Accounting / Maths
    • Business administration/BA qualification will be advantageous
    • Minimum of 3 - 5 years relevant experience in a Group Risk or Employee Benefits environment
    • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
    • MIP PFG competency

     
    Knowledge and Skills

    • Product knowledge and understanding of the Group Risk and / or Retirement Fund Industry
    • Understanding of IT environment and System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) advantageous

    Investment Accounting Specialist: EB (Centurion)

    What will you do?

    • Prepare monthly reconciliations between system and asset manager statements;
    • Prepare monthly investment analysis to be used by Fund Accounting department to update the general ledger accounts;
    • Prepare annual reconciliations between system and asset manager audit certificates;
    • Prepare annual investment analysis to be used by Fund Accounting department to update the general ledger accounts and for audit purposes
    • Prepare audit files, assist auditors and Fund Accounting department with queries
    • Prepare monthly/quarterly Regulation 28 reporting for monitoring purposes
    • Prepare quarterly South African Reserve Bank report for exchange control purposes
    • Adhere to deadlines

    Qualification & Experience

    • Matric/Grade 12 with Mathematics and Accounting
    • In possession of or studying towards a 3 year financial related qualification will be advantageous

     
    Knowledge and Skills

    Competencies:    Technical Competencies

    • Knowledge of the Retirement Fund Administration EnvironmentTwo years relevant reconciliation experience
    • Retirement Fund Accounting experience will be an advantage
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)

    Fund Accountants(Centurion/Bellville)

    What will you do?

    • Responsible for accurate triangles, bank and general ledger reconciliations within service level agreement
    • Peer review of triangles, bank and general ledger reconciliations
    • Compilation of unit reconciliations and bank declarations
    • Updating of monthly reserve account schedules and posting of journals
    • Drawing up of electronic transfers to pay expenses
    • Capturing of bank account information on the bank saldo file
    • Posting of bank statement transactions on to the accounting system (after bank reports extracted by Treasury)
    • Submitting of daily reconciliations completed
    • Updating of month end file
    • PAYE completion and saving om EMP 201 on e-filing
    • Prepare Trustee reporting
    • Assist with resolving audit queries
    • Prepare year end audit files
    • General administration - filing and opening of new files

    Qualification & Experience

    • Diploma or Financial degree with Accounting 111
    • At least one year relevant reconciliation experience

    Knowledge and Skills

    Competencies:    Technical Competencies

    • Experience in dealing with audits will be advantageous
    • Employee Benefits experience will be advantageous
    • Knowledge of the legislation applicable to retirement fund industry will be advantageous
    • Solid understanding of debits, credits and journal entries
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook etc)
