    Learnership, NCAMA

    Responsibilities / Accountabilities

    • A combination institutionalized and on-the-job training as per learnership qualification and company requirements.
    • Drive factors such as Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, and delivery to ensure business objectives are followed through executing standardized workplace training.
    • Learn the use of tools and equipment to carry out specific and specialized process functions.
    • Adhere to workplace timeframes and procedures.
    • Participate in providing process alternatives that will make the assembly processes more efficient.
    • Support production.
    • Communicate with peers and Supervisors.
    • Ensure Integrity in work tasks undertaken and identify improvement opportunities.

    PERFORMANCE MEASURES/ SUCCESS CRITERIA

    • Follow and complete an approved training program as required by FMCSA and MerSeta.
    • Follow a prescribed training schedule to ensure competence is achieved.
    • Complete the learnership within the subscribed period.
    • Rotating over shifts to acquire further exposure during the training period

    Launch & Localisation Engineer

    The individual is dedicated to FMCSA plant in leading and supporting electrical related launch activities. 

    Launch

    • Be familiar with all the upcoming new design changes for upcoming build events.
    • Understand vehicle and plant impact of new designs and how it will affect manufacturing.
    • Coordinate engineering change implementation with the LVEA and suppliers to meet launch timing. 
    • Support PD Yellow board and pre-build events in preparation and support of upcoming build events.
    • Complete parts sign off activities to ensure parts meet design intent.  
    • Work with cross-functional team including PD Programs, New Model Program (NMP), VOME, MP&L, Plant Launch team and other teams related to the launch, to successfully launch new vehicle programs on time with quality.
    • Take the lead / participate in cross functional teams to investigate and identify root causes and containment actions for build issues during builds.
    • Lead implementation of design related containment plans including ERA (Emergency Response), ICA (Interim Containment), PCA (Permanent Containment) and Prevent Re-occurrence Actions.
    • Represent Electrical team in launch related meetings (OTG, Part Pedigree, Aims, Build issues, part shortage etc.). 
    • Prepare launch related documentation for presentation to launch management.
    • Ensure lessons Learned from previous builds are incorporated to avoid repeat issues.
    • Support onsite vehicle sign offs to design intent. 
    • Support launch hand over preparation and reviews with PVT (Plant Vehicle Team).

    Cost Reduction (TVM)

    • Identify design cost reduction ideas and review with the LEA for further investigation.
    • Identify localisation ideas and work with purchasing to provide RFQ packs or get costs from local suppliers.
    • Complete localisation business cases with purchasing support and present to LEA PD and finance for approval.
    • Raise and track releases of localisation business cases for approved localisation projects.
    • Project manage localisation projects with suppliers and STA (Supplier Technical Assistance) to ensure parts meet all design requirements before introduction.
    • Manage introduction of TVM ideas via the MTC (Manage The Change) process.
    • Track the forecast savings to country design target and work with the LEA DP on improvement opportunities to meet or exceed target.

    Qualifications

    • B-Eng., or B-Tech degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronic Engineering.
    • 3 Years or more electrical automotive experience. Shorter-term relevant experience will also be considered.
