    RTM Senior Associate

    This role is a fully remote/virtual opportunity for individuals based anywhere in South Africa who are looking for a career in audit that provides more flexibility and exposure to international clients, whilst still being part of the PwC network and supported by a local team.

    You will fulfill a supervisor role on PwC audit engagements in Netherlands, working remotely from South Africa, but as part of these international audit teams. In doing so, you will be part of a growing local team that reimagines how global and local audits are delivered, whilst providing you with an opportunity to develop and build an alternative career in audit.


    Qualifications / Certifications required:

    CA(SA) or studying towards the CA(SA) qualification.

    Experience required:

    Completed 3 year SAICA traineeship. Post article experience is a benefit.

    • As a member of the Capital Markets practice within CMAAS, you will help clients navigate through complicated transactions and events, from evaluation through integration, in a multifaceted business environment.

    Position/Program Requirements

    • Minimum Year(s) of Experience: 6
    • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or other business field of study, including an acceptable NASBA foreign education equivalent.
    • Certification(s) Required: Passed either ACA or AACA Exam or the equivalent accounting or finance certification exam in the selected individual's home country.

    Knowledge Preferred:

    • Participate as an individual contributor and a team member with senior CMAAS practitioners & other professionals (e.g. bankers, lawyers, auditors, advisors) on complex financial reporting and regulatory matters related to deals & other transformational events on a daily basis in areas of focus listed above.
    • This includes demonstrating an extensive knowledge of and/or a proven record of success in the following areas.

    Advising multi-national, publicly-traded companies & private equity firms on a broad range of financial reporting, & capital markets topics including:

    • IPOs, debt offerings, private placements;
    • Carve-outs and/or spin-offs; and
    • Acquisitions, alliances/joint ventures, post deal matters.
    • Demonstrates a strong interest in deals, capital markets, and other transactions-based activities and should expect to operate in a high pressure, fast-paced work environment.

    Skills Preferred:

    • Demonstrates proven extensive abilities and success with managing teams in a professional services consulting firm, including, but not limited to, the following areas:

    Role summary:

    • As a Senior Associate, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    VAT Compliance Administrator

     

    JOB PURPOSE

    • Work within the VAT Compliance division of PwC and provide comprehensive document management (docman) support to the VAT Compliance team, including the maintenance of computerised VAT compliance databases and the managing of correspondence.
    • The position will be filled at our Tax Centre of Excellence (CoE) based in Port Elizabeth and will serve both national and international clients.
    • Due to the nature of the compliance business, i.e. large number of clients with relatively low fees and a large amount of correspondence, risk management and documentation that needs to be attended to, this can be done more efficiently through using a docman.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
    Client database:

    • Upload and create new users/clients/profiles on the relevant “VAT Compliance databases/systems (these databases include: Salesforce, SARS e-filing, Engagement Centre (“EC”), various VAT compliance management databases/Sheets, etc.);
    • Manage, organise and maintain the client data on the VAT Compliance Databases, including both incoming and outgoing correspondence;
    • Create new assignments and maintain current assignments on the VAT Compliance database/systems;
    • Be actively involved in project meetings relating to new developments on the current and new VAT Compliance databases and systems;
    • Track client assignments with regard to workflow, timelines and deadlines;
    • Assist with document formatting and preparation, including reports, presentations and proposals;
    • Assist in completing all documents for SARS with regard to VAT registrations, de-registrations, change of address, change of public officer, etc;

    Billing:

    • Ensure that monthly invoices and ITB’s (inter-territory bills) are raised for all clients;
    • Emailing monthly invoices/statements to clients;
    • Update client billing details;
    • Assist in drawing WIP reports and monitoring WIP and debtors;

    Risk management:

    • Responsible for working with the Horizon SDC team to ensure that risk management is kept current and up to date for both new and existing clients/engagements;
    • Responsible for working with the SDC Horizon team to ensure new client codes are opened and to review the codes to ensure that the codes have been opened correctly;
    • Filing of risk management documentation;
    • Assist in gathering the relevant documentation for the annual risk management reviews;

    Documents:

    • Manage, direct and track incoming and outgoing correspondence with SARS;
    • Responsible for the timely and accurate uploading of documents to the relevant VAT Compliance databases/systems;

    SARS efiling:

    • Responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of the deliverables to both the client and SARS;
    • Be proactive in following up any outstanding documents/information required from clients/staff;
    • Responsible for resolving e-filing queries with SARS;
    • Responsible to manage and update staff SARS e-filing profiles;
    • For all filings during the month and ad-hoc assignments, ensure that the required deliverables and manager and client signoffs filed;

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Grade 12
    • A related tertiary qualification would be highly advantageous
    • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
