    Site Industrial Engineer

    An exciting vacancy for a Site Industrial Engineer at National Brands Limited Durban Tea Factory has become available. The successful candidate will report to the Operations Executive and will be based in KZN.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Manufacturing Capability Program
    • Factory Optimization and Improvement
    • Resource verification against operational requirements
    • Throughput / Design speed analysis
    • Production line design and Capex justification
    • NDP Packaging supply and handling
    • Facilitate and co-ordinate problem-solving workgroups

    Minimum Requirements:

    Experience:

    • 3 – 5 years’ experience within an FMCG environment
    • At least 3 years relevant experience gained in a similar role

    Qualifications:

    • National Diploma or Degree in Industrial Engineering
    • Project Management certification
    • Six sigma black belt (advantageous)

    Manufacturing Manager

    The purpose of the role is to lead and support the manufacturing team in order to meet customer requirements and ensure that world class production and quality targets are achieved in the most cost effective manner. Tangible portfolio growth; delivering results; and meeting customer expectations coupled with supervisory experience are paramount for delivery and success.

    Line Manager: Operations Executive

    Job Specification:

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Ensure high efficiency, excellent quality and low waste.
    • Ensure optimal production through effective liaison with all other support functions.
    • Manage cost effective labour usage in accordance with MANMAPS.
    • Analyse and resolve production historical issues in order to minimize potential risk.
    • Ensure that operating specifications are in place and are achievable (correctly implemented), inclusive of SOPs and WIs.
    • Recruit, identify and develop the right talent.
    • Effectively empower and develop staff through goal setting and performance management in order to enable them to contribute effectively and make the right decisions.
    • Implement the correct business strategies.
    • Effectively manage operational budget and cost effectiveness.
    • Assist in Capital Expenditure and NPD process.
    • Ensure adherence to SHEQ, QMS and food safety requirements.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Experience:

    • At least 5 years’ Production/Operations/Manufacturing Management experience in a Unionised FMCG environment
    • Previous management experience within Food Manufacturing would be highly advantageous
    • Previous experience with Continuous Processing & High Speed Packaging Machinery would be highly advantageous

    Qualifications:

    • A relevant completed tertiary qualification (National Diploma / BTech / BEng or similar) in Engineering (Preferably Mechanical/Industrial/Chemical) or Production Management
    • A relevant additional Production Management qualification would be advantageous

    Engineering Manager

    The purpose of the role includes the maintenance and engineering effort for the plant including safety and risk compliance; plant equipment availability and performance; utilities and energy management; budget development; and people management.

    Job Specification:

    Key Performance Areas:

    SHE

    • GMR (2)1 site appointment
    • Collaborate with site risk department on all risk compliance
    • Site risk management: risk audits, site security, ISO 45000 accreditation, MHI certification
    • Fire systems compliance with ASIB regulations
    • Municipal and legal site compliance

    People Management

    • Ensure appropriate team structure that is aligned with the site engineering and maintenance strategy, and proper manufacturing support
    • Develop and maintain artisan competencies
    • Manage morale of engineering team

    Maintenance Budget

    • Compile annual maintenance budget
    • Compile five-year site strategic maintenance budget, including facilities and utilities upgrades for CAPEX
    • Monthly maintenance cost control and reporting
    • Cost reduction and productivity initiatives
    • Critical spares identification, management and control

    Plant and Services Availability

    • Equipment availability management
    • Equipment MTBF and MTTR improvement
    • Equipment shutdown management and PM schedules
    • Co-ordinate OEM support on critical equipment

    Maintenance Department Performance

    • KPI’s tracking and reporting
    • Employee management and control
    • Maintenance system improvement and strategy
    • Maintenance strategy and tactical approach
    • Foreman and artisan leadership, training and development
    • ERP system improvement

    Maintenance Systems Improvement and Strategy

    • Maintenance strategy and tactical approach
    • Root Cause Analysis
    • Support World Class Manufacturing strategy
    • Team structure to match strategy

    Utilities Management

    • Water and energy reporting and sustainability improvement
    • Compressed air, natural gas, steam, water, effluent, electricity, generators, and infrastructure maintenance

    • Understanding and practical experience on boiler (coal or gas fed) operation and maintenance

    Minimum Requirements:

    Experience:

    • 5 years experience as an Engineering Manager within the Manufacturing industry
    • Ideally 3 years within an FMCG environment as an Engineering Manager and/or Maintenance Manager
    • 5 years people management experience
    • Experience working with Packaging Machinery
    • Previous experience in food manufacturing is highly advantageous

    Qualifications:

    • Completed Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical)
    • Post-graduate degree advantageous
    • Certificated Engineer (GCC Factories)

    Additional Requirements:

    • Maintenance systems and measures
    • OHS Act knowledge and experience
    • Equipment technical support (mechanical, electrical, process)
    • Utilities (compressed air, electrical, steam, water, effluent, fire systems)
    • Food safety requirements, such as HACCP and AIB would be ideal
