    Engineer Capital Projects - Wessels Mine

    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    This role is a permanent full-time position.

    • As an engineer capital projects you will be part of the South32 Project’s Owner Teams on site, supported by the appointed EPCM. The purpose of this role is to execute the associated maintenance, mining and construction scopes associated with Capital Projects to meet project objectives.

    Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

    • Main objectives are to establish mining excavations and underground plant. It includes the day-to-day management of the Mining and Construction Contractors;
    • This includes the maintenance activities of the Trackless Mobile Machines allocated to the project and the associated infrastructure within the project footprint;
    • Directs, maintains, and enforces the safety programs and standards within the responsible sections;
    • Support the Project Manager, appointed EPCM and contractors to interface with site team wrt to logistics;
    • Ensure fabrication, delivery and construction of project within time and cost limits;
    • Support site Engineering team to develop Maintenance Strategies for new plant being constructed;
    • Ensure compliance to the MHS Act, regulation;
    • Draft, review and maintenance of all identified relevant standards applicable per Operation;
    • Conduct required Contractor Management duties.

    ABOUT YOU:

    You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

    • Must have a minimum of 5 year’s experience in a mining environment of which 3 years should have been as a minimum in the underground sections.

    Qualifications for this role are:

    • Degree / BTECH / National Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering;
    • Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) Electrical / Mechanical.

    Specialist Analysis & Improvement - Hotazel

    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    This role is a permanent full-time position.

    • As a specialist analysis and improvement you will be responsible to enable the business to embed continuous improvement principles and initiatives and ensure that resources are directed effectively at the highest value projects.

    Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

    • Conduct in-depth analysis of mining operations, including data collection, trend analysis, and performance evaluation;
    • Identify opportunities to enhance mining processes, reduce costs, and increase productivity;
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, geologists, and operators, to implement improvement initiatives;
    • Conduct compliance checks to verify adherence to local operating procedures;
    • Update operating standards, procedures, work instructions, control systems, and ensures critical controls are effective;
    • Create and oversee the compilation and maintenance of the Improvement Initiatives portfolio, collaborating closely with the Production Execution function to implement the initiatives within the portfolio;
    • Facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on major failures and facilitate solutions to address root causes;
    • Facilitate Improvement Initiatives through the various phases from initiating to handover

    ABOUT YOU:

    You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

    • Must have a minimum of 3 year’s experience in a mining environment;
    • Knowledge of production planning, production execution, and management systems;
    • Proficiency working with SAP;
    • Proficiency in Minitab and/or Power BI.

    Qualifications for this role are:

    • Degree or BTECH or National Diploma in Mining Engineering or Industrial Engineering;
    • Valid drivers license.

    Specialist Health & Hygiene - Wessels

    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    This role is a permanent full-time position.

    As a Specialist Health and Hygiene, you will be responsible to leads the Health and Hygiene work at Wessels Mine to effectively manage the execution of activities that the Health and Hygiene function is accountable for, across the operation.

    Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

    • Implement and maintain Health & Hygiene systems and processes to enable the operations to meet regulatory and other requirements;
    • Provide specialist support and technical advice/coaching for management on site health/ hygiene matters (including event investigations);
    • Provide input into the short and long-term planning at the operation, ensuring that key health/hygiene risks are considered appropriately to support ongoing compliance and leading best practice;
    • Design and execute health/hygiene monitoring programs ensuring that they are fit for purpose, aligned with regulatory requirements and the operational risk profile;
    • Facilitate occupational exposure assessments and medical surveillance in line with “recognized” practice and with consideration of legal and Global Health Standard requirements.

    ABOUT YOU:

    You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience within Hygiene function at Specialist level;
    • 3 years’ experience in mining or heavy industry;
    • Experienced in executing technical Environment related work is essential.

    Qualifications for this role are:

    • Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma (Hygiene/ Health Science/ Similar) registered with SAIOH as Occupational Hygienist OR Certificate in Mine Environmental Control is required;
    • Legal Knowledge Certificate is required.

    Artisan Fitter - Wessels Mine

    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    This role is a permanent full-time position.

    • As a fitter you will be responsible to timely installation, repair and maintenance of equipment to ensure that underground mining activities are executed in a safe manner as well as operate equipment and tests all working parts in functional area to ensure proper utilization.

    Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

    • Maintenance and repairs of plant equipment in the production sections;
    • Interprets and coordinates pre-work with regards to repairs, interpretation of hydraulic diagrams, planned and predictive maintenance;
    • Accesses any area safely to perform necessary maintenance on plants or equipment;
    • Performs safety inspections of equipment and assesses risks on equipment;
    • Maintains a clean and safe worksite;
    • Ensures the upkeep of maintenance tools and equipment;
    • Coordinates activities associated with trouble-shooting and repairing maintenance equipment;
    • Commercial ownership and support of energy sourcing strategies for the African operations.

    ABOUT YOU:

    You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

    • Must have a minimum of 5 year’s experience as a qualified Fitter on plant equipment;
    • Knowledge and experience in maintaining plant equipment such as conveyors, screens, jaw crushers and pumps;
    • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and ability to read and interpret diagrams.

    Qualifications for this role are:

    • N2 Technical Certificate (Internal Candidates) or N3 Technical Certificate (External Candidates);
    • Driver’s license;
    • Fitter trade test;

    Technician Ventilation - Wessels Mine

    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    This role is a permanent full-time position.

    • As a ventilation technician you will be responsible to direct workplace occupational hygiene and ventilation programmes, execute ventilation assessments, sampling & survey activities, workplace inspections & report on the effectiveness of operational control measures in line with all relevant statutory and company requirements.

    Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

    • Monitor, evaluate and report on ventilation, occupational hygiene and environmental conditions to make suitable recommendations;
    • Conduct risk assessments, participate in audits, interpret and act on ventilation and occupational hygiene related legislation;
    • Assist in the development of ventilation procedures and standards including short term ventilation planning (6-12 months) – Exposure to ventilation simulation models (VENTSIM/VUMA);
    • Timeous reporting/escalation of identified control deviations to relevant stakeholders and capturing of events into relevant event reporting systems;
    • Facilitate occupational hygiene exposure investigations and track corrective actions through to closure;
    • Advice on changes to plans and schedules to minimize the effect of unexpected or unsafe work practices;
    • Maintain ventilation strategies and systems;
    • Emergency escape route plan development and drafting;
    • Lamproom legal compliance;
    • Ventilation wall construction team inspection and quality control.

    ABOUT YOU:

    You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

    • Must have a minimum of 3 to 5 year’s experience in a ventilation;
    • In depth knowledge and understanding of relevant current Occupational Hygiene & Ventilation legislation and hazard identification.

    Qualifications for this role are:

    • Certificate in Intermediate Mine Environmental Control;
