    Electrician

    Main purpose of position

    Currently we are looking for an Electrician in De Aar, Northern Cape, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.  As our Solar Electrician you will perform Electrical work on the Plant that will include Modification, Repair and Maintenance of Electrical Equipment and Systems as well as switching, isolation, earthing and LOTO duties as per Authorisation level. You will be required to support to provide training and supervision to junior personnel and to be the Authorized Person on Duty (APD) when the Plant Supervisor is off site.

    Main responsibilities

    Perform Electrical Duties on Plant

    • Perform work in the modification, repair test and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems
    • Perform work in the modification, technical troubleshoot, repair test and maintenance of all facility electrical equipment and systems
    • Complete routine safety documentation before every job including tailgate meetings, electrical work permits, etc.
    • Perform switching, isolation, safety test and earthing and LOTO duties as per Authorisation level of the organizational ORHVS and PSR
    • Perform OEM specific Preventative and Corrective Maintenance tasks on , trackers, and all other PV electrical equipment to adhere to warranty requirements and industry best practices
    • Interpret schematics and blueprints
    • Quality assurance checklists and inspections to document deficiencies and identify corrective actions needed
    • Daily digital reporting and document on CMMS the maintenance activities of all facility electrical equipment, systems and spare parts
    • Control and perform monthly electrical equipment/instruments and tools inspections
    • Monitor and support the activities of the Maintenance Contractor
    • Perform all maintenance activities in line with contract training requirements
    • Assist in developing standard operating procedures and processes
    • Identify and provide feedback to issues and ongoing development of projects
    • Perform functions of Authorised Person and Responsible Person as per Plant requirements

    Supervision and training

    • Supervise and train junior personnel in associated duties
    • Act as team leader
    • Supervise, train and evaluate junior electrical staff
    • Perform general tasks and ad hoc duties as required on site
    • Assist with reporting requirements and support any site audit as requested
    • Perform various HSSE related inspections and documenting
    • Report to Plant Management and perform Appointed Person on Duty (APD) functions when O&M Manager is not on site

    Qualifications and competencies 

    • N3 Qualification
    • Qualified Electrician and ORHVS qualification
    • Registered 3 phase installation electrician (SANS 10142); not single-phase tester
    • Computer literate – Excel & Word
    • 5+ years Electrical experience – AC & DC electrical systems
    • Proven experience on MV & HV equipment troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance
    • Ability to take ownership of electrical systems on the plant
    • High Voltage Switching and Solar PV Plant experience
    • Supervision and training - Supervise, train junior personnel in associated duties and evaluate electrical staff
    • Maintain Transformers and Switchgear and Assist with reporting and perform various HSE related inspections
    • Experience with HV Switching, Solar PV Plant & BESS
    • Electrical knowledge (LV) and (HV)
    • Technical Support and Reports
    • Operating System and Process Control
    • Non-conformances and claims management
    • Language: fluent both written and spoken in English

    Site Quality Manager - 12 Month Contract

    Main purpose of position
    Currently we are looking for a Site Quality Manager in Ceres, Western Cape, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Site Quality Manager, you will monitor Quality activities on site, perform planning of Inspection schedules activities, ensure complying of Contractors to the Project Quality Plan, follow up & closing out of NCRs, Issue Reports, RFIs & Punch Lists while liaising with the Site Construction Manager, and ensuring all Quality conforms to Company’s Requirements & ISO 9001:2015. 

     

    Main responsibilities 

    • Pro-actively engage with Contractors’ Quality Mangers/Supervisors to optimize daily progress & inspections & monitor the contractor for compliance to the Project Quality Plan at all times
    • Ensure all work carried out is compliant to ISO 9001:2015
    • Review and follow up on and implement contractor’s QC registers such as non-conformance, QCP, ITP checklist and punch lists.
    • During commissioning and mechanical completion, ensure the follow up open punches and sign off punches closed by suppliers and Participate in Site Acceptance Tests
    • Participate in Project Meetings as required
    • Identify, advise, and report to the HSE Manager issues and risks associated with the Project
    • At all times, keep the quality records, including all working Registers, punch lists, ITPs, Check Lists up to date, not only in the office (hard copies), but also maintaining scanning of document and upload into Quality
    • Ensure all Inspection Equipment registers, calibrations, and calibrations certificates are managed and current at all times
    • Ensure All Quality personnel adheres to the HSSE requirements at all times, wear the correct PPE at all times, and conduct a daily Quality Toolbox Talk every morning covering the activities planned for the day
    • Ensure all Red Line, Single Line diagrams & as built drawings are complete, reviewed & signed off, registers updated and uploaded
    • Ensuring all Pre-Commissioning Site Acceptance Testing has been completed & signed off and compliant to the Operation & Maintenance Manual & Requirements
    • Ensuring of Signing off of Certificates of Conformance (COC)

    Qualifications and competencies 

    • Technical National Civil Trade Certificate with at least 10 years’ Site experience
    • Formal Quality Qualification (Six Sigma green/black)
    • Formal Quality Inspection Training Certifications with proof of 20+ years Quality Control Experience with contactable references to act as referee for experience & achievements on Construction Projects
    • Competent in navigating & applying Quality Management Systems
    • Experienced in working & complying to ISO 9001 2015 Standards
    • Experienced in working & complying to IEC Standards
    • Fully computer literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)
