Job Description    

• ITB Flexible Packaging Solutions (ITB) is a flexible plastic packaging manufacturer and part of the Novus Holdings Group. ITB produces an array packaging for the FMCG and food markets. Its products include retail bags, security bags, FFS food packaging, heavy duty sacks and carrier bags which are distributed across South Africa and abroad.

Key Duties and Responsibilities    

• Direct and motivate staff towards maximum performance.
• Manage and evaluate performance of production staff while maintaining discipline in the workplace.
• Identify training needs for production staff within the department.
• Implementation of all company goals, policies, procedures, and work instructions and ensuring that subordinates comply with the same.
• Liaise with other departmental managers including Sales team to formulate objectives and understand requirements.
• Develop extrusion formulations (recipes) with a good knowledge of raw materials, polymers, and additives.
• Develop new products and generate samples, estimate costs, and prepare budgets for the Extrusion dept and new projects/innovation.
• Determine number of necessary resources (machinery, workforce, raw materials etc.) required for the department, monitor, and minimise scrap.
• Organise, plan and coordinate workflow for Extrusion machines to meet customers specifications and delivery dates.
• Ensure well-maintained machinery and equipment (operational) to ensure smooth running of production.
• Develop and implement cost savings projects on a continuous basis.

Educational Requirements    

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent 
• Production Management Diploma/BTech Degree or equivalent.

Experience Requirements    

• At least 5 years’ working experience in Plastic Film Extrusion at a Senior Supervisory or Management level.

• Novus Print: Montague Gardens is seeking to appoint a Speedmaster Printer on a Fixed-Term Contract to operate machinery within the Sheetfed Division. The successful incumbent will report to the Shift Leader - Press.

Key Duties and Responsibilities    

• Responsible for preparation, running (printing of magazines and commercial work); fault finding, colour and registration control of the lithography printing presses.
• Operate the printing press at set production rates and standards.
• Preventative maintenance.
• Maintain general health and safety standards in the production environment.
• Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained.

Educational Requirements    

• Matric or equivalent.
• A qualified Artisan in the relevant Lithography trade.

Experience Requirements    

• Experience in operating a Heidelburg Speedmaster black and white press with perfector.
• Knowledge of Shopware.

Key Duties and Responsibilities    

• Responsible for pre-make ready such as requesting of job card, ordering adhesives, solvent, and substrates.
• Do a ratio check at the begin of each shift and job change.
• Do a grammage check at the begin of each shift and job change.
• Responsible for the setup of the lamination process by preparing the machine for the next job ensuring that trays and pumps are clean.
• Responsible for loading of coating sleeves specified by the job card while ensuring that adhesives batch numbers are recorded.
• Responsible for setting up of coating stations, ensuring that the coating grammage comply with job card.
• Responsible for ongoing quality control by continuously conducting visual checks on lamination substrate during production for the following specifics: coating weight and lay of adhesive.
• Record all scrap produced on the system.
• Responsible for weighing of all completed rolls and recording weight and length (in metres) produced onto the daily lamination production book.
• Comply with all ITB’s policies including but not limited to Health and Safety, General Workplace policies, Quality and Food Packaging safety and standard operating procedures.

Educational Requirements    

• Have completed Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent with computer knowledge.
• Have a fair knowledge of ISO 9001: 2001 Quality standards

Experience Requirements    

• At least 5 years’ experience in the plastic industry (packaging)
• At least 1-year experience as a Laminator

Skills and Competencies    

• Ability to set up and operate a solvent and or non-solvent-based lamination machine within acceptable time frame.
• Strong knowledge of adhesives and solvent for this process.
• Understanding of ratio settings and grammage checks
• Ability to do cold set application.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2001
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Computer literacy

• Novus Print: Montague Gardens is seeking to appoint an individual with knowledge and experience in an FMCG printing environment to take on the role of Digital Press Operator on a Fixed-Term Contract, operating the Canon C8000 colour press as well as 3 OCE black and white presses in the Cutsheet Department. The successful candidate will report to the Press - Shift Leader.

Key Duties and Responsibilities    

• Responsible for preparation, running (printing of magazines and educational material); fault finding, colour and registration control of the digital printing presses
• Operate the printing press at set production rates and standards
• Preventative maintenance
• Keeping track of stock levels and ordering of toner
• Maintain general health and safety standards in the production environment
• Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained

Educational Requirements    

• Matric (Grade 12)
• A qualified Artisan in Pre-Press or Press will be advantageous 

Experience Requirements    

• Experience on a Digital Toner based Press will be advantageous 
• Experience in Cutsheet Pre-Press operations would be advantageous
