    Production Team Leader - Akasia

    An exciting opportunity exists for a Production Team Leader at NATIONAL BRANDS LIMITED Rosslyn Snacks.  The successful incumbent will be responsible for safely producing required quantities at the right time, quality, and at right cost with labour within the budget.

    Cost

    • Monitor and respond to daily variances to drive delivery when demands are above planned volumes
    • Understand and plan production carefully considering the impact of promotional offers

    Minimum Requirements:

    Experience:                                                                   

    • At least 5 years’ Production/Operations/Manufacturing Management experience in a unionized FMCG environment.
    • Minimum 2 years experience in TPM / WCM / Lean manufacturing role within the FMCG
    • Minimum 2 years experience in production supervisory role as well as a support function to production facilitating continuous improvements initiatives.
    • Solid communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills are required.
    • Ability to effectively develop and/or train employees across all levels within the area of responsibility.
    • Must have knowledge of PC literacy including Microsoft applications. SAP/ experience preferred.

    Qualifications:

    • Matric / Grade 12
    • Completed National Diploma OR BTech in Mechanical Engineering (Related/NQF5) or equivalent
    • People Management Courses/programmes would be advantageous

    Technologist (Biscuits)

    An opportunity has become available for a Technologist to join our Snackworks Isando site. Reporting directly to the Biscuit Specialist in the R & D Department.

    Duties

    Analysis of materials and product

    • Carry out routine material/product analysis
    • Arrange external material/product analysis
    • Analysis and reporting of analytical results
    • Arrange calibration and servicing of equipment according to schedule
    • Maintain stock levels of laboratory consumables

    Pilot Plant Tests

    • Carry out routine material/product tests
    • Arrange external material/product analysis
    • Analysis and reporting of test results
    • Arrange calibration and servicing of equipment according to schedule
    • Maintain stock levels of pilot plant spares and change-parts
    • Maintain stock levels of pilot plant consumables
    • Collect laboratory and/or inline trial data
    • Order material for pilot trials

    Factory Trials

    • Collect trial data

    Shelf-life studies

    • Pack and distribute of samples
    • Analyse shelf life data and report
    • Control storage of shelf life samples
    • Arrange calibration and servicing of equipment according to schedule

    Sensory evaluation

    • Pack and distribute of samples
    • Setup and conduct sensory evaluation

    New/modified product/process development

    • Produce concept samples projects following Design and Development procedures
    • Conduct literature surveys on process, ingredients and acts and regulations for the purpose of developing or optimizing analytical methods, processes and products
    • Brief suppliers on new analytical instruments, product, packaging and raw material requirements
    • Develop product and process assessment methods.
    • Develop new BOP’s and update existing NPD process BOP’s

    Manufacturing Support

    • Actively support manufacturing in troubleshooting
    • Participate in optimization projects run by factory
    • Participate in validation and verification of processes and operating procedures

    SHE, Quality and Food Safety

    • Participate in customer complaints and investigations on product issues
    • Participate in SHE initiatives
    • Participate in GMP and HACCP initiatives
    • Maintain GMP in workplace

    Experience required:

    • At least 1 year experience gained in a similar role in a FMCG/Manufacturing environment
    • Experience working with various equipment and machines eg lab equipment, processing and packaging equipment
    • MS Office - Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Project

    Special requirements:

    • Must be prepared to work shifts and overtime when required

    Qualifications & Competences required:

    • Tertiary qualification preferably in Food Science & Technology (B.Tech or BSc.)
    • Previous experience in the baking industry
    • Practical & Theoretical Baking Science & Technology training is an advantage

    Maintenance Manager

    An exciting opportunity exists for a Maintenance Manager at Indigo Brands, Epping, Cape Town. The purpose of the role is to oversee and manage all maintenance and related activities to ensure optimal levels of plant and equipment availability, efficiency and ensuring equipment standards are maintained. The role also encompasses the management and coordination of statutory and other legislative requirements with regards to the safety of machinery in the workplace.

    • Analysis of breakdowns, with recommendations to reduce downtime
    • General administrative activities associated with a leadership position

    • Operation and maintenance of machines: High speed filling and packaging machines: Vacuum / Volumetric filling machines (Liquid filling) Case Packers, Palletizers etc.
    • Material handling experience
    • Processing and mixing vessels
    • Experience working with Boilers, compressors, alcohol and gas installations
    • Experience in Facilities management would be advantageous

     Qualifications:

    • Completed tertiary qualification (NDip; BTech) in Mechanical Engineering
