Job Description
The focus areas for this role will be:

• Assist with ensuring that legal requirements, group standards and policies are adhered to including adherence to legal and corporate standards through monitoring and reporting
• Maintain VOHE strategies and Systems, Measure compliance to Section 11 and 12 of the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Conduct risk assessments and participate in audits through maintaining and effective VOHE risk assessment programme and initiating direct remedial action necessary to eliminate occupational health risk or institute appropriate control measure to reduce exposures to reasonable and practical levels
• Conduct daily VOHE inspections and record findings through providing information and advice on VOHE matters related to a specific area or section as well as advising on changes to plans, schedules, procedures, and standards
• Monitor and control condition of VOHE equipment and instruments through maintaining and calibrating equipment (maintain instrument senses).
• Assist with future planning of existing operations and seek improved or alternative engineering control measure for VOHE hazard elimination or control
• This role is in the Mining Department at band 6 and reports to the VOHE Specialist.

Qualifications

• Matric
• Intermediate certificate as offered by the Mineral Council
• Advance Certificate in Mine Environmental Control

Additional Information

• 3+ years’ experience in an underground coal mine
• Computer Literate (Micro Station/ VENT SIM)
• 3+ years’ experience in VOHE department and underground Colliery mine
• Code 8 drivers Licence
