Specialist: Core Data Networks Operations at Vodafone Global Enterprise

Role Purpose/Business Unit:

• Provide high level technical support to the network infrastructure. Routers, Switches, Firewalls etc.
• Implementation and integration of network equipment and systems.
• Interface with vendors and other divisions in Vodacom to support the organisations operational targets.
• Interface with Service providers and suppliers to resolve critical service incidents. 
• Trouble ticket management according to current policies and procedures.
• Perform integration testing and configuration management for network infrastructure according to approved Change Management procedures.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Provide high level network operational support.
• To plan and coordinate network installations.
• To plan and execute changes.
• To plan, coordinate and execute hardware and software upgrades.
• To co-ordinate & execute projects.
• Fault, problem, change, performance and capacity management.
• Liaison with internal departments and external contractors.

The Ideal Candidate for this role will have:

• 3-year Degree/National Diploma related to technical field of study or equivalent.
• 3-5 years minimum of work experience in the networking industry.
• Solid knowledge of IP protocols and IP/MPLS is essential.
• Knowledge & and experience with Nokia routers, Cisco Routers and switches, Cisco and Juniper Firewalls.
• Knowledge and experience with Cisco ACI environments will be an advantage.
• Advanced knowledge and experience with security firewalls and security appliances will be an advantage. 
• Knowledge and experience with Linux based systems will be an advantage.
• Good communication skills, analytical thinking and ability to work under pressure.
