    Site Coordinator - Bronkhorstpruit

    KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensure health and safety functions required of the employer are carried out in terms of Section 3(1)(a) of the MHSA, including all mandatory Code of Practices, risk assessment programmes, occupational hygiene programmes and any other programmes required to ensure effective environmental, health and safety management.
    • Ensure that all applicable statutory requirements are met in terms of labour, environment, health and safety. 
    • Update scheduling of production (monthly) according to the market demand.
    • Update budget and forecast scheduling of production (monthly) according to the market demand.
    • Set up and maintain processes to optimise productivity, throughput and availability.
    • Continuously adapt workforce to operational requirements to ensure optimum ROI.
    • Define major investment opportunities to improve productivity.
    • Ensure the sustainability of the mine operation by ensuring mining exploration is continued to identify ore deposits, and prepared, adapting to product changes and requirements in the market.
    • Ensure, on a daily basis, the cost control of all operations comply with approved cost budgets

    Responsible to submit to the Board, annually, for approval:

    • implementation and management of an annual exploration and mining plan;
    • capital and operational cost budget;
    • staffing and training requirements;
    • product production plans;
    • rehabilitation plans and as per the approved environmental management programme.
    • Ensure proper maintenance is carried out to minimise downtime and maximise working efficiency of equipment and processes
    • Co-ordinate the requirements for the annual shutdown.
    • Take part in the continuous improvement actions of the company in terms of quality, services and processes.
    • Ensure proper application of ISO procedures at the mine.
    • Assist with Negotiate all required contracts with suppliers to the mine e.g. mining, tailingsand waste management, security, etc.
    • Deal with the Department of Minerals and Energy regarding all mining related operational matters.
    • Execute and control all social responsibilities placed on the mine with regards to the approved Social and Labour Plan.
    • Recruit, train, mentor, discipline and motivate the workforce when appropriate.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

    • Diploma in Production/Operations Management or Mining Engineering.
    • Blasting Certificate.
    • Competent A Certificate.
    • At least 15 years management level experience in production, preferably metallurgical or geological, environment with multiple operational functions (Production, Industrial Relations, Maintenance/Engineering, mining).
    • Drivers licence is essential.
    • Knowledge of the production environment and demands placed on the manager with regards to a continuous, high-volume process. 
    • Strong leadership qualities required in a unionised environment
    • Good managerial skills required, especially with regards to assertiveness, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
    • Continuous planning of people-, processand output requirements to meet ever-changing customer needs and expectations. 
    • Able to work under pressure and to deadlines.
    • Strong personality required to deal with daily stresses in the form of statutory requirements, managerial pressure, staff expectations and social responsibilities.
    • Hands-on management skills required e.g. continuous and daily visits to plants and quarries, stock taking, waste management, continuous improvement and housekeeping requirements.
