    Shift Supervisor - Kimberley - Puma Depot

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

    HSE

    • The Airport Supervisor (AS) must be HSSE minded and work safely at all times.
    • The AS supervises a team of Airport Operators (AO) and therefore his actions and behaviours will impact and influence his team. He needs to apply appropriate behaviours.
    • The AS must be fully conversant and comply with all Company and Legislated HSE requirements which apply to the Airfield Operation.
    • The AS must report all unsafe acts and conditions and near misses to his / her Supervisor at all times.
    • The AS must acknowledge that Working Safely is a condition of Employment.
    • The AS must be able to identify changes to processes, plant and people and be able to understand that a Management of Change (MoC) process needs to be in place and followed

    PEOPLE  MANAGEMENT

    • Personal Leadership – set high personal standards, lead by example, ensure follow through, and demonstrate commitment to building a motivated workforce.
    • The Airport Supervisor (AS) arranges the duties of the Operators so that all customers are serviced on schedule and the depot maintenance tasks are carried out
    • The AS trains & coaches staff to develop a highly skilled team, dedicated to ‘getting it right first time, every time’.   Ensures team members are fully trained and competent in all their delegated tasks.
    • The AS will carry out task observations on the Operators.
    • Take active interest in all staff’s wellbeing to ensure they are physically and mentally fit to carry out their duties and if they are not seek ways of facilitating a recovery.

    QUALITY CONTROL

    The AS is required to perform tasks critical to the Quality Assurance System and as such he/she shall be fully trained in such tasks and nominated as an approved Product Quality Inspector. Such Tasks include, but may not be limited to, the following:

    • Checking the documentation on incoming
    • consignments is correct and that it corresponds to the transport/container concerned.
    • Visual inspection and control checks on incoming material, including the checking of seals on vehicles if present.
    • Discharge into storage.
    • Release of product into Fuellers and Hydrants.
    • Sampling of aviation products.
    • Maintaining records of stock/quality/equipment checks as appropriate.

    OPERATIONS & ASSURANCE

    The AS is responsible for all delegated administrative duties in the depot. These include but are not limited to:

    • Sales.
    • Stock management.
    • Overtime.
    • Petty cash.
    • Data capture and inputting.
    • Documentation for maintenance and operations tasks.
    • Incident reports
    • Defect reporting
    • The AS manages a team of Operators who come into direct contact with customers at each refuelling. At times there will be conflict and the AS is responsible for ensuring that on the shift, there is resolution to any issues.
    • He represents PUMA to the customer and ensures that relationships and well managed.
    • He communicates concerns and issues to the Depot Manager.
    • The Airport Fuelling Supervisor (AS) is responsible for carrying out all day to day tasks required to safely, effectively and efficiently operate the fuel storage facility and into plane activity. The AS operates sophisticated, high cost mobile and fixed equipment in carrying out these tasks. The AS performs his day to day operations, maintenance and safety tasks strictly according to the Site Operating Standards.

    At a typical airport, these operating tasks are, but not limited to

    • Fuel receiving
    • Storage and handling
    • Preventative Maintenance
    • Fueller filling
    • Driving
    • Product Quality
    • Aircraft refuelling

    FIXED AND MOBILE PLANT MAINTENANCE

    • As a delegated responsibility from the Depot Manager, the AS will carry out such tasks as are necessary in the day to day running of the facility e.g. fixed and mobile equipment maintenance.
    • The AS will be responsible for the scheduling of all depot maintenance tasks to appropriately trained AO’s in his team.
    • Responsible for ensuring that Preventative Maintenance Systems are keep up to date

    Requirements:

    MANDATORY EDUCATION: 

    • A senior school leaving certificate demonstrating a recognized pass.

    EXPERIENCE: 

    • Ideally a minimum of 2 years experience as an Airport Refuelling Operator with a proven track record.
    • Product quality control of aviation fuels and lubricants.
    • Good HSE skills and attitude.
    • Proven track record as being able to self manage and manage, motivate and coach others.
