    Senior Tax Coordinator

    Job Description

    • This role ensures that Old Mutual Personal Finance meets and maintains its Customer Tax obligations. As a Tax subject matter expert, the successful incumbent will lead a cross-functional team, whose purpose is to ensure: tax compliant processes and systems, timeous implementation of tax changes, and accurate and timeous completion of tax reporting..
    • To be successful in the role you must be able to execute through others, collaborate and cultivate a culture of an optimal performing team.

    Key focus of the role and responsibilities:

    • Provide tax technical advice and recommendation on processes, products, customer queries etc.
    • Ensure that tax legislative changes related to customers are timeously implemented
    • Interpret and simplify tax requirements; ensure that delivery partners are timeously informed of customer tax changes, and they have delivery plans and operational measures in place.
    • Ensure that PF Customer Tax, SARS submissions are accurate, complete and on time.
    • Ensure that adequate controls are implemented by business for all customer tax related processes.
    • Ensure that process and business changes do not lead to unintended compliance degradation.
    • Monitor and review customer tax obligations and adherence to tax legislation, proactively identify, manage potential tax risks, and ensure that management actions are in place to address incidents of non-compliance.
    • Provide an up to date coordinated view of the Personal Finance state of Customer Tax compliance.
    • Engage and collaborate with group functions (e.g., Group Tax, Legal and Compliance, Finance etc.) to ensure that appropriate solutions for complex customer tax requirements and issues are established.
    • Drive, negotiate, and influence collaboration of cross-segment uniformity of customer tax implementations, either at the Management boards or the identified regulatory committees.
    • Facilitate internal and external customer tax audits, and ensure that customer tax findings are addressed.
    • Ensure that Group Tax, SARS queries and customer complaints are timeously addressed.
    • Cultivate a culture of optimal performance, teamwork, and continuous learning.
    • Promote tax education and ensure that tax knowledge is maintained across PF’s customer value chain, to improve customer experience and to minimise queries and issues.
    • Ensure there are Service Level Agreements between Personal Finance and Delivery Partners, with regards to Customer Tax.

    Qualification, Skills, Experience, & Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business /Commerce studies (Taxation qualification would be advantageous)
    • The role is strictly Cape Town based; the successful incumbent must be willing and able to relocate if applicable.
    • 5 - 10 years’ experience in employee and 3rd party tax reporting compliance within a financial / insurance services industry
    • Knowledge and understanding of South African Tax legislation
    • Operations and regulatory/tax implementation experience would be advantageous
