Job Description:

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
• Maintain the control solution including the instrumentation, control networks, hardware, and software.
• Ensure that maintenance plans are in place for all control system equipment.
• Identify improvement opportunities for the control solution.
• Identify and register appropriate SIB (Stay in Business) project to improve the solution and ensure it remains fit for purpose.
• Manage the Control and Instrumentation team to ensure an effective control solution.
• Adhere to Anglo American Platinum’s standards and procedures.
• Adhere to Anglo American’s and Operational Management of Change standards and procedures.
• Manage the C&I budget for the operation to ensure that the control solution remains fit for purpose.
• Implement a purpose-driven, high-performing culture that is aligned with the company values, is inclusive and promotes diversity, supports engagement, and fosters continuous improvement to work processes
• Ensure compliance of the discipline with internal and external (legislative, regulatory, permitting) requirements

This role is at a GBF 6  level reporting to the Section Engineering Manager

Qualifications:

• Minimum National Diploma Electrical, Electronic or Instrument Engineering (NQF Level 6)
• Registered as a Profession Engineer with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) or registered as a Professional Engineering Technologist with ECSA

Experience

• 10 years' work experience in control and instrumentation
• 5 years relevant management experience
• 5 years’ experience with fieldbus technologies (e.g. Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP)

Knowledge and Skills

• Developing skill in networking and collaboration and the ability to work with a diverse team.
• Proficient skill in Leadership tools and communications and manage relationships with key stakeholders to achieve the required outcome.
• Advanced skill in problem solving, project management and the ability to implement the most effective solution to drive efficiency.
• Expert skill in Technical Proficiency and compliance governance for the discipline to apply best practice, consistent with the strategic context of the business area.
