    Senior Brand Manager - Johannesburg

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    • Meet segment/brand objectives (volume, profit/ GP, share) that contribute to achieving the country and/or business objectives. On a daily basis this involves articulating and delivering the full marketing mix for your brand. Manage budget and marketing spend on the McCain brand for commercial planning and execution with Internal & External Stakeholders. Drive and maintain private label business. Lead Innovation and product portfolio management. Assist in drive consumer centric innovative propositions, manage digital communications development.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
    Achieve Brand Financials: GP business objectives;

    • Achieve/ exceed brand targets.
    • Understand and monitor drivers of P & L (Profit & Loss) and portfolio to manage risk and opportunities. Ensure team provides tracking snapshot (actual versus target versus previous year) by month and YTD (Year to Date) of budgets, inventory, marketing initiatives ROI (Return on Investment), innovation performance and innovation ROI.
    • Work closely with the media agency to optimize media budgets.

    Achieve Market share Targets;

    • Growth month on month or vs last year via using relevant 4 Ps.
    • Identify issues & Implement campaigns to drive share.

    Drive Purpose-led Brands (brand health) & Delighting Consumers;

    • Create briefs capturing communication objectives for Creative, Media, Digital or Shopper & implement timeous campaigns aligned with manager and function Lead.
    • Review and sign off promotional, advertising, media, research, and R&D (Research & Development) briefs.
    • Translate brand strategy into 6 Quarter planning: 18-month plan outlining all activity by channel/consumer.
    • Conduct post campaigns reviews.
    • Build and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

    Lead launch of innovation / Product/Portfolio Review;

    • To identify and build business cases for new product introductions using 5i2P and Demand Spaces research.
    • Adapt Graphics in time with local requirements and input from R&D.
    • Provide launch assumptions/ Research briefs aligned with manager.
    • Track NPD (New Product Development) performance for coarse correction.

    Process:

    • Active Participation in IBP (Integrated Business Planning) Process, Lead Step 1 (PPR) & 2 (ILT) inputs.
    • Brand Budgeting & forecasting.

    EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • BCom Marketing/Business Management.
    • Grade 12 or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 7 - 9 years’ experience in Brand Management at a Brand Manager level.
    • Previous experience within a similar FMCG and/or Consumer Goods industry is non-negotiable.
    • Nielsen Data, ex-Factory Data and Consumer Data analysis and interpretation with insight driven recommendations (essentiaphul) i.e.
    • Microsoft Office (Power Point, Excel, and Word).
    • Valid SA driver’s license.

    PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

    • Proficient in interpreting of the Nielsen Answers system and the use of any other retail syndicated data (e.g. Dunhumby, Insights etc.).
    • Financial acumen: clear understanding of the workings of a P&L and the key drivers that need to be tracked and improved on to achieve healthy profitable growth in the category.
    • Analytical skills and attention to detail.
    • An understanding of trends and an ability to respond to customers' wishes.
    • Creativity and an ability to produce innovative and original ideas.
    • Team working skills.
    • The ability to manage and allocate budgets.
    • Written and verbal communication skills.
