    Section Head: Decommissioning Services - Pretoria

    Job Profile:

    • The incumbent is responsible to manage the personnel and activities within Decommissioning Services by planning, organising, leading and controlling in order to ensure that the allocated facilities are kept in a state of passive safety between the decommissioning phases, in accordance with licenses, SHEQ and other applicable statutory requirements.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Ensure inspection of all decommissioning equipment.
    • Ensure that maintenance and repairing / replacing of equipment to maintain proper functioning thereof and continued service delivery.  
    • Manage Decommissioning Facilities and Activities to ensure that all plant systems are in  working order and that the following are in place:
    • Implement and monitor facility approved waste management plans
    • Ensure that all allocated facilities are under effective Care & Maintenance programs and projects that comply with the applicable Nuclear Installations License (NIL)
    • Ensure that prescribed PPE is issued, personnel trained on the use of PPE prior to performing activities. 
    • Ensure implementation and maintain Necsa’s SHEQ & Security requirements, NIL requirements and other requirements as applicable.
    • Manage projects resulting in CAM and Decommissioning Services.
    • Manage activities arising from projects in CAM and Decommissioning Services.
    • Prepare or review the projects specifications, reports, purchase specifications, requisitions, tender documentation etc.
    • Manage, control and monitor the budget for their respective group in Decommissioning Services to ensure expenditure is aligned with the business plan and cost controlled within agreed budget limits.
    • Ensure that personnel are issued with annual performance contracts and appraisals are concluded timeously
    • Implement and manage HR policies and systems put in place to manage personnel attendance and performance. 

    Requirements

    • Business and management principles and systems involved in the management of Radioactive Waste.
    • Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) systems, requirements; acts, regulations, licenses, permits and protocols.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    Education:

    • B Eng (Mechanical/Chemical) 

    Experience: 

    • Five years’ experience in nuclear plant operations plus two years’ experience in a supervisory role
